I love Al. I remember when I was a kid the last words before I could go to bed peacefully were " you can put this one in the ol' deep freeze"

I was listening to Al McCoy in the car on that play. His comment after the play was, "Well, I guess Eric thought he had a clear lane to the hoop and that was the best move for him at the time. We will see." He had a touch of sarcasm in his voice.

On the next possession he said, "Goran Dragic is now bringing the ball out of the backcourt and running the offense." The tone of his voice was clearly indicating that he also wanted to say "instead of Eric Bledsoe who pulled a boneheaded move on the last play."

Ha! That makes me feel better. When I get to a certain point where I start disliking a player, I am always worried that I am not being objective, and that my dislike of a particular player is clouding my judgement.

Shot clock management, not sharing the ball, missed defensive assignments, and doing stupid things tend to be at the top of the list that get players on my "dislike" list, and Bledsoe is getting really close to making that list. If it weren't for the fact that he can get to the rim any time, create his own shot, and is an outstanding one on one defender (not a very good team defender though) he'd already be on my list.

Which is why I posted recently that Eric Bledsoe is not a Point Guard. He'll pick up some assists (who doesn't?), but he is an undersized Shooting Guard.

His strongest asset was our greatest need last season -- a go-to guy in the 4th quarter. I don't take that lightly. But he is not a Point Guard. He does not make the players around him better when he is on the court.

I completely agree. Bledsoe is NOT a point guard, and Dragic is not a shooting guard. I really think that by forcing the two of them to play together without clear assignments, the coach is doing both of them a huge disservice. I know he thinks Dragic and Bledsoe are just like KJ and he, but the problem is that Bledsoe is no KJ, and Dragic is not Hornacek.

Edit:
Also, Bledsoe is not just a shooting guard. He is a grossly undersized shooting guard that isn't a particularly good shooter.

I think you guys are overstating how bad Albert is. Sure, he's not the best and portrays himself as a buffoon but he and Eddie don't ruin the broadcast or make it unwatchable or anything.

I don't think we are. Albert really makes me miss Leander, and that's really saying something. I love EJ (and Ann, for that matter), but Albert really makes it difficult for me to watch the Suns broadcast.

He states obvious things as if though they were something profound (You know, the Raptors are in a strange situation- they might make playoffs, or they may end up in the lottery), he doesn't recognize simple calls (somebody commits and obvious offensive foul, and Albert waits for the call to be official before saying anything other than "Not sure what the call is), and he just doesn't follow the action on the floor. It is annoying that EJ has to correct him several times every game. It is also annoying that Albert just has to get the last word. :bang:

Most of us have probably known someone who wallows in self-deprecation.

You might smile sadly the first time. It wears thin by the second time. And it is depressing to hear it the third time. Or in Steve Albert's case, the first hundred times, the second hundred times and the third hundred times. OK, so I exaggerated a little. :)

Interrupting his play-by-play to say that his dog taught him to roll over and that he doesn't even have a dog is not only unprofessional, it is sad. And completely unnecessary.

The more I hear it, the more I am disappointed that the Front Office did not do their homework. Were the Suns so desperate to get someone from the Marv Albert family -- anyone from the Marv Albert family -- that they didn't foresee that his New York humor doesn't fit in the Valley of the Sun?

Albert's "humor" is not only self-deprecating. Hearing him crap all over himself is self-defecating. Notice that I didn't interrupt a ball game or my job to offer that pun. :D

Really? I thought he was very close. About as close as you can get without actually hitting him.

Did you see it? He swung straight towards the backstand while Plumlee was about three feet to the right.

Read an article a while back about the best broadcasters and Al wasn't even an Honorable Mention. Chris freaking Webber was ranked.

Arizona's message to the rest of the country for decades has been, "Don't tell us what to do." Plus, no matter how large a city and metro area we have become, we are not considered a major market.

And with so many people here from other states and countries, we don't really have an identity.

Recognition goes to where the money is. We know whom we appreciate. Screw the outsiders! :D

The intent was there unless you think Jonas was just venting frustration (sarcasm).

I thought the swing came pretty close.

I disagree. He knew there was nobody in front of him. He wasn't swinging with his eyes closed.

If he almost hit Plumlee, I guarantee you there would be a lot more league activity and discussion about the matter along with huge fines.

I didn't know where to put this but it was pretty satisfying as a Suns fan to see the Lakers lose in Kobe's season debut to the lowly Raptors.

My wish for the Lakers is mediocrity. I want them to be on the bubble of making or not making the playoffs. Ideal would be to make the playoffs and then get swept in the first round. Just missing the playoffs gives them a lotto chance and I don't want that.
