Retiring young kind of reminds me of Robert Smith of the Vikings, but Smith was more talkative to the point of being one of ESPN's commentators for a while.

I cannot believe he's only been in the league for 6 years. Feels like its been much longer than that. And if it felt that long for me, imagine how long it felt for him. The guy took some punishment. Good for him for walking away relatively healthy.

Ditto... And I almost 100% agree with his views on what pro sports have become... I hate to be the "remember when" guy, but, when a 26 year old is able to see reality so clearly, I think it's pretty evident that things have indeed changed and for the most part, not for the better...
With the spotlight on concussions and health issues in general for former football players, coupled with the changing environment of the game itself, it won't surprise me to see increasing voluntary "early" retirements from the NFL.

That is somewhat of a shock to me. I may be in the minority but I didn't think he was that bad. Fumbles bothered me but I thought there was half a chance he could be back for next season.

I did not think he was that bad either. He played hard. My best to him in his future.

I have no problem with him retiring early I wish more players would do that and look out for their futures.

I am surprised because I read that other thread and thought he was saying I'm now 100% healthy, not I'm about to retire.
