Ratliff ready: Forward/center Theo Ratliff said his surgically repaired back is feeling well and that he's looking forward to contributing to the Wolves next season. Ratliff was limited to two games last season because of a bulging disk.

"I feel great," Ratliff said. "I've been working with a great trainer in Boston, lifting a lot of weights, just getting ready."
Ratliff, 34, said he's not sure what his future will hold after his $11.66 million contract expires next summer, but said retirement was a possibility.

This is probably Googs/Penny situation, but if he can play at all he might agree to buyout so he can play with a playoff team. Obviously the odds are that he cannot play, but in the day he was one of the great shot blockers ever.

Won't contribute anything at the offensive end but he'd be a nice insurance policy (along with PJ) if they could make the finances work.

I wouldn't say Ratliff was one of the greatest shot blockers in his time, but was a pretty good one at best when he was younger with the Pistons and what not.

However, the guy is shot and is as good as a Vitaly Potopenko right now. Suns don't need another older big with no skills and/or injured at this point - even if they claim to be healed.

With that said, Ratliff would make a fantastic 12th man - just as Pat Burke was last season.

At minimum, Suns need a Skinner/Ely/Brown to go alongside Ratliff. If you wanna go big and deeper, you get both of them. Otherwise, invest in a nice Pietrus or Posey and call it a night.
