The big turn around on defense has started when the younger guys started to get more playing time. Joey Porter was a liability out there IMO.

Skelton has looked like an inexperienced and young QB with some skills/traits that you can build on.

Yup. I have to give you props, because you seem to be coming around. You still want to stick with Kolb when he gets healthy, and you make a good argument for your opinion. I disagree, but you aren't a blind Kolb homer, so I can disagree with a smile and a handshake :)

It sure looks like it. I tend to think it has more to do with our secondary playing better, but the two go hand in hand. Peterson's progress has made a huge difference, as well as Jefferson's.

All I can ask for. For the record, there is a thread in here somewhere where I argued that if it wasn't for Fitz, I would have stuck with Skelton due to the lockout and the learning curve a new QB would have to overcome.

As a fan, I want the guy who has won two games in a row. As an organization you have to hedge your bets and start Kolb if he is healthy because you have more to lose if you don't. Maybe that line of thinking is why I come off as reasonable?

HOPE.

That being said, good god Bradley sucks.

liked a lot of everything else I saw.

I still have a huge problem with Dan Williams not playing more. Dockett is not a NT and he shouldn't be playing like one.

Definitely seeing improvements though. Any time Porter isn't on the field, that is an improvement.

Big Dan should definitely get more snaps this game against the run heavy 49ers.

The impreesive things about the D is that they are playing & better understanding their zone responsibilities over the last 3 games. No many breakdowns in coverage even with AW & Johnson playing S.

i'm pretty jacked up about the performance of the D last week too, but is everyone forgetting that ONE GROSS BREAKDOWN and we lose that game? like the one THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED?!?

celek was running completely free with no defender in sight. we just got lucky that vick completely overthrew him. that was a sure TD.

as long as we have one of those a game we can be assurred the defense has not yet arrived.

sorry to be a downer in a positive thread.

I see your Vick overthrow and raise you Skelton overthrowing a wide open Fitz and a wide open Doucet. :)

Most defenses have those sorts of breakdowns once or twice in a game. What is a testament to our defense is that we had made Vick so uncomfortable in the pocket that we wasn't able to execute the throw. There is a reason teams try and get their Qb's into a rhythm, and that is so they can make throws like that in close games. Same goes for the defense. Keeping pressure on QB's throughout a game is almost as good as sacking them because it keeps them out of a rhythm.
