I think after the Doucet pick Whis stepped out for lunch and told Graves "You hold down the fort I'll be back in couple of hours." Whis is going to come back find the War Room is disarray and yelled at Graves "WTF did you do to my draft?!"

Did the Graves/Whis helicopter get lost on the way back to the training facility, or something?

I think they only have a dart board with small school guys on it, and they are having the interns practice their accuracy....

The dolphins brough Hightower in to meet with him, I wouldn't mind a HB who Parcells likes.

We already have Shipp. Shipp had big stats at U Mass too. So, I'm confused re this pick.

yes....who the hell is willie parker. I didn't know who marion barber was eventhough the guy played at Minn.......then I heard he was a backup and his father played in the NFL. but you never know with these guys. often times these late round picks turn out if you know what you're doing.

Hightower Scouting Report

From Rivals.com:

The good: Hightower is a physical runner with a quick burst to the hole. He has a nice north-south running style. He has the power and the speed to break tackles and run away from defenders.

The bad: Competition wasn’t the best. His speed is only adequate and may force a move to fullback.

Outlook: He is a major sleeper and an underrated performer at a deep position. He has the potential to be an NFL starter in the right setting.

The thing that pops out at me is rivals.com's claim that "his speed is only adequate and may force a move to fullback".

What happened to our speed back???? We passed on Mendenhall and Charles and get a guy that has fullback speed. You've got to be kidding me.
Also, whatever happened to our speed slot receiver? Doucet is a mini-Boldin. We still don't have a deep threat.

He sounds (according to the NFL website and ESPN) like a tough inside runner with limited top speed.

I think the Cardinals were betting RB Ryan Torain would be there for them in the 5th because of his injury... he went #139 to Denver.

It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. After the third round the Cardinals seem lost.

Hightower ran for 161 yards and added 158 yards on 19 receptions as a freshman in 2004. He upped his numbers as a sophomore, finishing the year with 777 yards and nine touchdowns to go along with 21 receptions for 163 yards. Hightower again improved his rushing totals as a junior, rushing for 850 yards and five touchdowns, while adding 34 receptions for 269 yards and two touchdowns. All that led up to the amazing season Hightower had as a senior this year. He ran for 1,924 yards and 20 touchdowns to go along with 228 yards and three touchdowns on 32 receptions out of the backfield.

Hightower is an intriguing all around back. He has very good size, runs hard between the tackles, but he is not just a power runner. He his the hole quickly and accelerates through it and can make a quick cut and make the first defender miss. Hightower is also an excellent receiver out of the backfield.

Hightower has only been a feature back for one season. He put up solid numbers, but he only dominated for one season at the D1-AA level. While he is a talented all around back, he does not possess one stand out skill or trait.

Hightower has a nice blend of skills that project well to the next level. He may lack the one true ability to be a star, but his ability to help out in a variety ways should make him attractive option in April.

OMG OMG OMG

We drafted someone in the 5th round no one has ever heard of. There goes the Super Bowl.

This is the definition of us being a bunch of crazed fanatics. Most of the time we don't know of these guys anyway (and I don't need to see the list of 5th round an beyond who were star players. Theres a reason ESPN makes a big deal of that. Its cause they are anamolies and they want people to watch. And yes I realize Breaston was a 5th rounder)

The way I see it this draft is made or broken with picks 1-3. Anything after is just gravy.......

Mel Kiper has some very good things to say about him. Liked the pick.

Said he is a very tough runner. Move the chains kinda guy. Someone that will make the team and be productive. Does have a ceiling because of his lack of top end speed. Did like the pick anyway.

That's more or less what he said.

These D-1AA and small school kids are scouted on a small sample size by these national pundits.

None of us have seen him play. We'll see.

Sounds good to me. Ill reserve judgement till he hits the field.

Thanks for the post but I don't think Shipp or Arrington are losing any sleep over this pick.
