Cardinals also adding QB Zac Dysert to their PS. Former Broncos' backup. Wow. Broke most of Ben Roethlisberger's passing records at U Miami (Ohio).

Cardinals sign CB Harlan Miller to PS. Maybe they were hiding him!

Still no Shipley? Has he signed with another team yet? I hope momah and McLain make it to the PS.

Penny, yes. No word on Momah yet.

2 qbs signed for practice squad show they really want to find a future back up quarterback
To me this explain they lost some confidence on stanton , who is probably the most inaccurate qb i saw recently

TE Momah, TE Valles, LB Riddick, T Price, WR Hubert, WR Golden, CB Miller, RB Penny, QB Murray, QB Dysert.

There's the 10 man PS for now.

I too was surprised they didn't keep Shipley. As I posted before I'm not surprised about Barkley. He's not special and a good game manager would likely fare as well considering the running game. Dysert is nothing special. Very glad Penny made it. I think the Cards are gambling Bryant won't be picked up and they can sign him in the event of injury. Hope it works out better than Freeney. Momah was a good keeper. Surprised they let McClain go, he's a strong drive blocker.

I remember seeing Dysert a few years ago against OSU and thought he was pretty good. I like Murray better than Barkley everyday of the week too.

* Gabe Martin---one of the biggest surprises for me was that he and Lamar Louis made the roster. Rugby called this---hats off to you, pal! Martin had the big interception versus Paxton Lynch and he's pretty solid on STs.

Thanks, but that line about a blind squirrel finding a nut comes to mind. If Kareem Martin was healthy, I doubt he would be on the roster.

* Lamar Louis---STs stud in the making.

The more I read about this kid, the more I think he has the potential to be more than that. 6' & 232 lbs, runs a 4.5/4.6 forty, his 26 bench press reps would have been 3rd at the combine, and all other combine stats he would have been a "top performer" or in most in the top ten. This kid is an athlete, dare I say a better one than Minter. I think Louis is going to have an instant impact on special teams this year, and be the player that we all want Gabe Martin to be. So, if we are giving out kudos Mr. Mitch, you get one for talking up this player earlier than anyone else.

* Andre Ellington---is he really going to be the return man on kickoffs and punts? Will Steve Keim add a return man today?

Yup! He is going to be a weapon back there too. I say he returns, AT LEAST, one or two punts this year with teams trying to test him.

* Patrick Peterson---is he going to cover Julian Edelman (the Pats' top WR) and thus spend most of the night covering the slot? Will the coaches put him on Gronk if Branch is having trouble? Can Tony Jefferson cover Martellus Bennett?

Peterson on Edelman
Mathieu on Gronkowski
Bucannon on Bennett

The rest on the rest. Damn, our defense has A LOT of talent.

* Alani Fua---will we see him rush the edge this week? Will Steve Keim add an edge guy?

I didn't see to many "edge guys". I know you wrote this up before the practice squad was announced, but the fact that Shaq Riddick was kept give an indication of how shallow that talent pool is at the moment.

Unless Alex Okafor cannot go, I doubt we see Fua in there too much. But, then again, I have no idea who they will put out there for the nickel package. Frostee Rucker ? Josh Mauro ? Or do some sort of jumbo with Jones-Nkimdiche-Gunter-Campbell ? I dunno, but I cannot wait to see it.

If Okafor can't go (or is ineffective) & with K. Martin out another 2-6 weeks, I'd like to see Nkemdiche put in at OLB when Chandler Jones needs a breather (on the 5-10 plays he might be out).

Nkemdiche is probably going to be in a backup role at the start of the season anyways so getting any extra snaps will be beneficial.

agreed. I love HB, but even if he wasn't coming off injury, Gronk at 6'5, 230 would maul his ass.

I agree! Mathieu won't be able to handle Gronk on his own, he has to many inches(or feet) on him .

A couple of posts mentioned Jaxon Shipley. I heard on the radio that Shipley chose not to accept the Cardinals practice squad offer.

Bill Belichick---does he claim one of the Cardinals' cuts? He likes to play head games with upcoming opponents. Yesterday, he held a workout for T/G Clay DeBord. I have thought all along that the Cardinals have been trying to hide DeBord---but Belichick gets his intel on things like that.
Nailed that one, Mitch!

DeBoard - was signed to the Patriots practice squad. I wouldn't be surprised that Belichick only did this to gain an advantage by mining DeBord for knowledge of the Cardinal playbook, signals, etc.

This is something that always brought a question to my mind, when players are released is there anything in their previous contract or are there any league rules which limit how much information a player can disclose about the team that let him go? I mean if they were allowed to share as much information as they remember about the former team and their playbook why wouldn't every team in the league be doing this almost week after week to gleam an edge over their next opponent?

I think that all team make enough changes throughout the season that it wouldn't be of much use after a few weeks into the season. But after the entire off-season and training camp, and what they have worked on all that time, teams aren't going change much for Week 1.

Why doesn't someone cut a player and pay him under the table to lie to the teams that pick him up just to try and get inside info. Whatever the Pats pay you, we'll double if you lie to them.

That would be awesome seeing the Pats OC completely baffled, we have their signals, we have their plays, and yet we're still wrong someone finally figured out how to stop us cheating.
