Is it just me or does this Rebok online ad campaign seem to be in poor taste. It's themed as a "basketball crime scene investigation" and it just "popped up" on a recent visit to Yahoo.

Especially since Nike is forced to consider life after Kobe. The NBA already has a black eye over recent criminal issues with players. Ad campaigns like this just add salt to the wounds. Is Rebok just bitter that they couldn't compete with Nike to sign Lebron and Kobe?

Rebok May think they’re one upping a hated competitor by humiliating Nike, but all they’re doing is hurting the entire industry by drawing more attention to criminal athlete issues. This is beyond poor taste and it only hurts the entire industry to make light of crime.

Tagline reads, “…one of these RBK athletes is guilty of committing some of the sickest moves ever on an unsuspecting rook.”

Starring Kenyon Martin, Jason Richardson, Steve Francis and Baron Davis

This just seems like a really bad idea right now. Your thoughts...

Seems to be well done. I don't have any problem with it. Heck, I'm going to join up!

Well if this ad campaign has been running for awhile it certainly seems as if they're promoting it more now.

That tagline just makes me cringe with recent events.

“…one of these RBK athletes is guilty of committing some of the sickest moves ever on an unsuspecting rook.”

I think you're looking for something that isn't there. Just my opinion.

These kind of promos are layed out months if not more than a year in advance.

When would they do it that an athlete isn't in some kind of trouble with the law? :D

They need to bring back the Fun Police with the Three Dog Night soundtrack. That ain't the way to have fun, Kobe!
