On June 5, six new honorees will be inducted to the Western Massachusetts Baseball Hall of Fame as the class of 2025.
Among the honorees is Pete Fatse, a Minnechaugh High School alum who played at UConn and is now the hitting coach for the Boston Red Sox.
Also being inducted are Todd Ezold, Terry Murphy, Tom Sgroi, Kevin Stannard, and Rich Tettemer.
Ezold, caught for Classical High School in Springfield before attending UMass Amherst. In 1985, he was drafted by the New York Yankees.
Murphy, who was also once the Mayor of Holyoke, played at Holyoke High School, as well as Holyoke Community College and Stonehill.
Entering as coaches are Sgroi and Stannard. From 1983 to 2003, Sgroi won 330 games and five Western Mass. titles with Westfield High School. In 1996, he was inducted into the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Stannard retired more recently after 30 years at Taconic High School. Under his watch, the Braves/Thunder won more than 400 games and took home state crowns in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
Receiving the Garry Brown Excellence Award is Rich Tettemer. Tettemer joined WWLP in 1988 and still anchors weekday morning and noon editions with 22News.
“We are thrilled to honor this remarkable group of individuals whose contributions to baseball in Western Massachusetts have left a lasting impact,” said Matt Drury, the Valley Blue Sox president. “Their achievements reflect the rich history and passion for the game in our community.”
The ceremony will be at the Wyckoff Country Club in Holyoke and will commence at 6 p.m.
