Watching it on NFLN Kolb looks more comfortable with the O...but I do realize live bullets aren't flying yet.

Would you say that the Defense looked great or the offense looked terrible?

Because it sounds like the latter

Keep in mind that Kolb was playing with the #2s--against the #2 defense. We have really solid starting personnel, but when you're playing against Vonnie Holliday, Nick Eason, Quentin Groves (who hasn't sacked a QB since 2008--that's not a typo), etc., I hope that a guy who could start in the NFL would be able to play against a bunch of guys who can't do it anymore.

Funny that Rashad Johnson remains a complete non-factor in these reports. Dude was a third-round pick. I wonder if he'll make it out of camp.

Sorry I stopped posting thinking it was unnecessary.

By the end of the day, Skelton was below 40% passing with no touchdowns or interceptions. He struggled to move the offense and missed even seeing wide open wrs

Kolb scored the only passing td on the day and moved the team, but also threw two ints. Nothing was settled today. It was a poo poo pick em.

Floyd won't be second string for long. He looks like Dwayne Bowe with good size and the ability to get open.

The offensive line got great push inside on the goal line runs but struggled on the edge.

Ryan Williams looked as good as advertised. However he show boated after beating Kerry Rhodes to the outside. His next carry he got obliterated by Wilson and I doubt it was a coincidence.

Rhodes looked good in coverage. Gay spent the day covering Larry and stayed with him for the most part.

Byrd didn't really show up besides a small catch. Dray had a big drop and will struggle to make the team imo.

Housler continues to prove me wrong and may push Heap /King out of the starting lineup

It was only the third practice so I am not that worried about the QB play...yet.

Running game looked good. Offense either stalled with Skelton or turned the ball over with Kolb. Kolb never looked bad, just made two bad decisions. He did throw the ball away.

Skelton....I don't know what to say. If he was wearing a #4 Jersey he would have been booed off the field.

Fans were all over Kolb. People actually are rooting against him, which is sad. On one play he rolled out and hit Sampson for the first down and the guy next to me bitched he held the ball too long.

Johnson might as well be wearing an invisibility cloak because you never see him do anything.

Oh I tried to watch Bradley a few times and the guy was just going through the motions on the second team. Really disappointing

Oh one more play stood out to me. Kolb tossed it deep to Roberts and Peterson 100% interfered with him but it wasn't called. I promise you that gets called during the season. Second day I saw Peterson get beat and then interfere with the receiver.

AJ Jefferson made a great break up of a TD but I can't recall if it was Kolb or Skelton throwing. Jersey Girl can't remember either.

JG, who does not prefer Kolb, would pick Kolb as the starter right now.

Improved from a guy who probably doesn't belong on an NFL roster to a guy who didn't look as bad as A.J. Jefferson. Got his job taken by Richard Marshall, who had never played safety before in his career.

He's a restricted free agent and a former third-round pick. He's not Cody Brown, but at this point he should be pushing for a starting job. When the Cards go 6 DBs, he's not even on the field.

Rashad Johnson was so bad as a rookie the Cards had to give up picks to get Kerry Rhodes to replace Antrel Rolle. He's been another Whis mistake that we don't have to suffer with.

Kinda depresses me that the fans are all over Kolb, no matter what he does. But when you make a big payday I guess you have to expect that. For the money he gets people expect more.

I'm one of the people who think Kolb should start, but I have to say that throwing 2 INT's against the 2nd string defense isn't promising at all. And I actually have a different view on Skelton after this practice: his practice was better in my view, because he didn't throw the picks. Can't turn the ball over in the NFL man, I'll take punting any day over throwing 2 picks in practice against second-stringers.

With our defense and what I hope they do this year--what we all hope they do--I'll take Skelton's mistakes over Kolb's. I can't emphasize enough that I'd rather punt than throw picks. With our D and our QB's--neither of whom appears to be anywhere near good--it's going to come down to field position and if that's the case we just cannot, under any circumstances, turn the ball over.

I'm trying not to read too much into it, it's just one practice, but from your reporting, Kolb failed to impress (at least to me). I was pleased he did well with what you reported yesterday and very unpleased with what you reported today. To me it sounds like Skelton is at least more consistent and that's what we have to have. I want the best QB to play, and if Kolb continues throwing INT's I hope it isn't him, no matter how poorly Skelton's accuracy is. His accuracy problems may be an indication of playing too safe frankly (rather than trying to fit it into tight windows the way Kolb does), and I"ll take that any day over multiple INT's (Kolb averaged almost 2 turnovers a game last year as it is).

Very psyched about your reporting of Housler. Such good news for all Cardinal fans.

Nice dig. Yet you fail to mention he is also operating with 2nd string WRs and 2nd string OL etc.... Doesn't really make a case for what your trying to say IMO.

Yes... Second string WRs like Early Doucet and Michael Floyd. Second string tight ends like Rob Housler. He's at an incredible disadvantage. I'm sure those guys are incredibly challenged by Crezdon Butler and Greg Toler. :sarcasm:

Not sure why a 2nd string OL would matter when he's up against rush linebackers who last meaningfully touched a quarterback during the Bush Administration.

Kolbs turnovers were in the red zone. Skelton couldn't move the ball. Both mistakes would put the defense in the same place.

Kolb faced the first team defense more than once and skelton faced the second stringers more than once

Got his job taken by Richard Marshall, who had never played safety before in his career.

Did I miss something last year? Didn't Marshall take Jefferson's spot? According to profootball-reference.com our starting secondary the last 9 games of the season was Peterson/Marshall/Johnson/Wilson with the exception of the Bengals game where Rhodes was able to play.

Before that it was Jefferson instead of Marshall. So if Marshall was playing Safety instead of Johnson who was playing the other CB, Adams? Heck knowing Horton Acho was probably playing Safety, Wilson OLB, and Dockett LCB half the time.

OK I'm buying NFL replay. I'm too old to remember all this stuff. Used to be able to remember every play from every game and who was where and did what. :(
