Nice explanation as I never heard one from the announcers.

Even though two D-backs runners messed up by not touching the next bases (2B and 3B), the Reds messed up by not touching 3B for a force, then 2B for a force, when the ball came back in, which would have negated the winning run.

They tagged 2B which removed the force at 3B and threw it instead to 1B, even though the batter Owings had already crossed it.

The Reds had the opportunity to negate the winning run and blew it!

Of course, we don't know how that would have played out because the Reds outfielder gave up on the ball when it was over his head and a groundskeeper threw it back in toward 2B.

Regarding Goldie's slump, I saw it printed somewhere that he was working with the coaches on his swing. He and David Peralta went a combined 8-for-9 with a walk in the 3-4 spots. 'Guess Tomas isn't going to see a lot of playing time for awhile.

Call it old age but I could have sworn they touched 3rd also. I will go back and look later. Either way, nice win.

I think the groundskeeper touching it immediately ended any chance for appeal the Reds had. It became a dead ball at that point.

He didn't just touch it. He picked it up in center field and walked all the way over to left. The whole play was an exercise in stupidity. I hope Lamb and Peralta get blasted. They're major league ball players. They should know better.

Yup - they could have cost the Dbacks the game.

Peralta said in an interview that he did not know that he not being the winning run nor the hitter that he did not have to advance to the next base. Peralta is actually correct according to the rule book.

The talking heads kept saying everybody had to advance and Hale even said so after the game.

The rule book, of course, prevails. So Lamb and Peralta did no wrong. Except for not knowing it.
