Hardly has there ever been a player more derided on AFSN than Bryant Johnson. lol... He was the whipping boy for all of the 2003 season.

Got my boy Calvin Pace in the 1st round of that same draft. Even Pace couldn't believe he was drafted at #18. Rod Graves, you crafty devil you.

We did, however draft Quan in the 2nd :)

Can you imagine, we could have had T Suggs and Q in the same draft. Man, this team has made some dumb moves in the past. I know hindsight is 20/20 but there were some no brainers, even at the time: AP instead of Levi, Urlacher instead of Thomas Jones.

I'm a huge Penn State fan, and even I didn't want us to draft him!

We did that despite the FO's gross ineptness. Most don't realize that we ALSO traded BACK in the 2nd round in order to get the Saints to make that deal. We got fleeced otherwise, AND traded back in the 2nd. Ugh!

Crazy that T-Sizzle didn't fit our defensive scheme at the time so they draft CP who didn't either. Only when we switched to a 3-4 did CP start to show his worth, but T-Sizzle would have been even better.

Rod Graves was SO BAD. Ugh.

Good thing we traded Boldin because "you cannot pay two receivers big money" and then went ahead and flushed that money down the toilet on some of the worse free agent signings in Cardinals history.........and given the history, that is pretty amazing.

We should be more concerned with Nkemdich’s production. I’ll take something versus nothing

I remember yelling at the television screen after this one. Suggs even said he wanted to be here. The same when we passed on Urlacher and Adrian Peterson... I remember my Father telling me not to be arrogant and think I know more than a GM in the Pro's... but how many times when a GM does an unexpected move does it end up being better than the general consensus on a player in the 1st round? I don't think it's that often...

+1 on being EXTREMELY ANGRY when they passed on Suggs.

And no, it is not being arrogant. Granted NFL GMs hit more than most people in the world, hence why they have their jobs, but sometimes, I think the pros overthink things, and do not see the situation for what it is, which is the easy and obvious answer.

To think the team passed on a future HOF, for Calvin Pace, and Skillet Johnson, ugh. And it was an easy and obvious situation, that Suggs was the guy.

But, there are times......Alan Branch, were we all show that we are amateurs as well. LOL

Lets not forget that we got Calvin Pace the next pick. I wish Suggs played here as much as the next guy, but when you can get Calvin Pace and a WR, that's almost a no brainer. Besides, with the way the organization was run Suggs would have been gone when his contract was up just like Calvin Pace.

You say that like it was a positive LOL Calvin Pace was a DISASTER here. Not his fault--he absolutely didn't fit the defense we were running--which is even more of an indictment on Graves. So, having a pro-bowl level Suggs, even for one contract, would have been DRAMATICALLY better than having Pace and Bryant. We would also have still had a 4th round pick. That's right, we PAID an EXTRA 4th AND moved back in the 2nd FOR THE HONOR of trading BACK from #6 lol Oh, Human Snail, how we don't miss you!

I liked Bryant Johnson and ain’t going to stop - he was a good man and tried hard - he was a very fast big man and drafted early- more class than his fans. Like who would not look uglier than Q and Fitz? Proved size and hands beats size and speed.

My current big past draft problem was taking smoke over Everson Griffin - Some May remember my fight over that - I liked smoke but Griffin was much better bpa

No just being loyal me as usual - ain’t scared of poop nuggets opinions- you guys wanted more - I wanted more from BJ - the whole world wanted more from a mid 1st round pick. But he averaged consistently over 40 catches and over 500 yards and I remind you that he was on the field competing for catches with 2 of our and the nfl’s best wrs ever. He was our deep threat and performed that role as a really big guy. And helped Q and Fitz” and team success in that way - Was a great character guy and. I Liked him a lot-
Stats are ok - low TDS but others did well around him
http://www.nfl.com/player/bryantjohnson/2505656/profile

But edge and CJ and others efforts seem to get trashed by local media and fans also - with fans like ours who needs opponents. BJ was not a bust - just couldn’t compete with Q and Fitz - who could? Breaston ? Floyd? Smoke? JJ? We like smokes numbers cause he was 3rd round and had a 1000 yard year, complimenting fits and out performing Floyd. Sue me I liked BJ
