RENEE ZELLWEGER & KENNY CHESNEY MARRY
May 9, 2005

ET has confirmed that Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger and country star Kenny Chesney have tied the knot. The surprising couple were married on Monday on the beautiful island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the singer has a home. In a short, 15-minute ceremony performed by a female preacher in front of a small group of family and friends, the bride wore Carolina Herrera, one of her favorite designers, while the groom was reportedly barefoot. Both laughed and cried during the ceremony.

The happy couple met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief effort on January 15 and maintained a quiet friendship that quickly blossomed. The marriage is a first for both stars, although the 37-year-old Kenny reportedly broke off an engagement to another woman in 1999, three weeks before the wedding. Prior to marrying Kenny, Renée dated White Stripes singer Jack White and her 'Me, Myself & Irene' co-star Jim Carrey. A spokesperson for Renée had no comment about the proceedings.

Of course this has been big news here in Nash-vegas. The two had been seen around town at various spots recently.

I don't think that he had to save two months to buy a little diamond, do you?

if he were as big of a Buffett fan as he claims to be, then he'd know

"on top of all that I got married too early, cost me much more than a ring......"

Bit of irony:

Chesney's 1999 hit You Had Me from Hello was based on Zellweger's famous line from Jerry Maguire.

mea culpa CQ ... now I guess I owe a drink for real

when i was in school in Philly we went on a buffett road trip and converted my roomates truck into a rolling shark ... obviously we got some looks as we are painting jaws and attaching a fin to a truck in west philly

anyhow, they were working on the trolley tracks and some workers saw us and we had a good conversation with them and shared a couple drinks (after their shift of course ...........)

we ended up bumping into them at the camden show

the audience really does run the gammut and you never know when you will run into another parrothead

actually met a guy through sal's site that was both a seahawks fan and parrothead who was working in center city philadelphia ... talk about an odd combo for that location

you ever listen to Jim Morris? .. his voice is a little rougher and take a minute to get used to, but his storytelling lyrics are incredible as he paints a wonderful picture

I was so entertained by the vehicles turned into sharks in the parking lot before the show here last month!

I have a 13"x8" Fins Up! magnet on the back of my mini-van, and that's gotten enough odd looks! I can only imagine if I were driving a shark on wheels!

in 2001 we painted up the truck, drove to Pittsburgh for a Tuesday show, came back for the Thursday in Camden

Friday morning headed up to Toronto and hit my hometown in upstate NY for lunch, where the small town curiousity took over and our lunch was interupted by the local paper who put us on the front page (now that is news!)

partied in toronto until sunday .. woke up that morning and watched the seahawks open their season with a win in Cleveland ... had tickets for the tuesday show in indiana and tickets for the thurs/sat shows in chicago

unfortunately woke up tuesday morning in our hotel to some news story that showed smoke coming out of the towers in NY .... eventually it unfolded what was going on ... road trip cancelled ... ended up limping back into philly

was a great time until that point though ... i've attached a couple pics .. was great seeing the reaction that we go ... we made my grandma ride shotgun as we drove through town ... the customs officials looked at us .... the canadians at niagra falls thought it was hilarious ... toronto had some kind of red carpet event that we drove through ... in cleveland it made tailgating all that much better

i know ... i was being a smart ass as far as the actual age

but then again, too early could mean too soon

he's only known the chick a couple months and with his popularity ever increasing there is going to be a lot of road temptation

at least she is worth more than him ... so really there isn't much risk

i wish them the best

:biglaugh: I don't know what's making me laugh more, the fun paint job on the truck or the way you said, "we made my grandma ride shotgun as we drove through town ..." TOO funny!
