Good stuff, but that report left out many players that were in Whiz's "doghouse." More like a dog hotel, a very big dog hotel.

He is on his last year of contract and as I recall its around $1.5 million. I'd keep him maybe with BA he will do better.

I'd hate to lock up long term dollars with this guy but I wouldn't mind watching him rack up the yards for us in an attempt to get his payday elsewhere. One really good year from him, at a reasonable price, is better than nothing.

It makes sense financially to bring him back. Let him walk after next season and get a comp pick.

I agree. I hope they aren't fooled enough by a good season this year to outbid another team for him. I mean, I was excited when the Cards drafted him, have always supported him, and I hope he makes me doubt what I just said. But he'll be a 6th year running back entering his late 20s with a history of injuries. They'll have to be REALLY convinced.

I am

I don't change with the winds - I still see one of the most talent players on our team- I can't find the read where Beanie said the auditioning statement was repeating what the coaches said in the locker room! The coaches told the team that they would all be auditioning for 31 other teams - to motivate them for the lame duck game/games.

Hey Garrison Hearst and Thomas Jones our other first round RB's in Arizona were both released after injury in their contracts- and both had fantastic careers after the cardinals.

Not only is The Bean a bruiser he has great speed and moves for his size, His health has sucked but no reconstructive surgery- which is a great thing- and he was developed and played exactly wrong in my opinion. But Arians is not very big on the run game either- it is an after thought. unlike the teams I hate playing in the Super Bowl next week.

but nobody is excited about beanie

Yes, because he's never come close to that, right,? Either with ours or another team, it will happen.

Hard to believe that just one season ago, 2011, Wells rushed for over 1000 yards and 10 TDs @ 4.3 per carry isn't it?

Whether or not you are a Beanie fan, you have to like that many players feel as if they're given a clean slate/fresh start, especially guys like AW and Dockett who are integral parts to the team. I have a feeling the staff caused much tension last season and took it out on some players, deservingly or otherwise.

If there is one consolation to this hire, it's that players will be playing loose and focused next season. IMO, the front office drama and ambiguity about coaches' futures became a major distraction for the players.

If Wells will just trust his legs and trust they wont snap like twigs we will see the 2011 form again. But it was easily seen that he did not trust his legs last year because of the injuries. But just like Kolb who has done well when starting can we trust him to stay healthy? I think the answer to that question on both players is a NO.

In addition to which, I think increased attention to run blocking will help the running game as a whole. Far too often, our backs were getting hit in the backfield. For any back to have success, we gotta get them to the 2nd level.

His CAP hit is $2.1M.

Cards clear $1.7M in CAP space if they cut or trade him.

Actually Beanie will turn only 25 during next preseason.

Meaning his free agent year, 2014, he'll turn 26 during that preseason.

He still has 5 more seasons before 30, and he'll really only be 29 and 4 months when that fifth season is over (regular season).

Age isn't a concern on a 2nd contract, it's injuries and his slip n slide nature.

He needs to use cleats with bigger spikes. Arians should use his 'excitement' to force him to wear bigger ones. I also agree he doesn't trust his feet, and you put not trusting + small spikes and you get beanie. Bigger spikes will help. Better OL and coaching should help his trust. But he might have a mental block with his feet.

I have no problem with him on the roster. I have no problem with signing him to an extension. As long as he is not paid anything like a superstar, and he wears bigger spikes on his cleats.

I'd have no problem giving him 3-4 million a year in an extension if he had a decent year this year. If someone overpays, then let him go.

With some real run blocking his best years could be ahead of us or somewhere else.

Though you'll have to figure on him being injured for 2 of say the next 5 seasons most likely with non-major injuries (i.e. not a blown acl, and 2 seasons means 32 games missed). Obviously more if he does get a major injury.

But he's worth it if he can stay upright when healthy and doesn't break the bank. We'll just have to be like other teams and have multiple talented backs that share carries. Either way we need to add another back.

We'll see though, another year like last year and his price goes way down. But someone will pick him up, he's got too much raw physical talent. Someone else will give him a try.

Personally I'm interested in seeing any and all of our backs perform behind a line not constructed or taught by Whiz/Grimm/Graves.

How could you know the length of his cleats?

Neither one of these Rb;s can be trusted to start imo. Beanie just isnt tough enough and RW is injury riddled. Love to see them bring in a chris ivory type kid in FA.
