Ya know I'm inclined to give arizona an A- in WR.

Just because if you look around the league at the other teams, there are really only a few with more talent per starters than Arizona.

The Raiders come to mind (Moss, Porter, Curry)
The Lions (Williams, Williams, and Rogers)

Unless there's some others out there (I'm sleepy) than I'd contest AZ needs a higher grade.

The others I could get behind though.

A C+ for teh DB's is a little generous. Outside of Wilson we have two unprovens and one average starter. I say a straight C tops with room to improve if youngsters learn fast.

Here are mine.
QBs- B
RBs- B
WRs- A-
OL- C+
TEs- D
DL- B
LBs- B
DBs- C

I like what we have at QB with Kurt Warner. Josh McCown is a young and experienced backup that knows the offense. I also like what we have at RB with Arrington and Shipp. The O-line and the TE position are what scare me with our offense. If RG Elton Brown can't get healthy and in shape and be a dominant force at RG, I think that will really hurt our O-line. We have an average LG in Wells. An average but improving Center in Stepanovich. If Jeremy Bridges ends up being the starter at RG we will have a below average RG. Our new RT Oliver Ross is known for being a solid run blocker but very average as a pass blocker. Leonard Davis is the only dominant O-lineman that we have, that is why I am really hoping that Elton Brown gives us a great first year.

I think our WRs will do a great job for us. If Denny Green doesn't plan to use the TE position very much then that position shouldn't hurt us that bad. That is what I am guessing will be the case.

I would say it would be hard to grade the OL and DB's because of the new additions..the whole right side of the line is new assuming Bridges will be beat out by Brown or a FA. And 2 of our CB's are rookies...If the db's pan out I say the Cards should be solid on Defense...

and one average starter.

This isnt directly related to your post but an overall general statement.

I dont think Macklin gets the credit he really deserves sometimes. He had a good year last year and was a big reason why we were 9th in the league in pass D last year. He is without a doubt above average at the very least IMO.

Hard to grade out something you have never seen. If you could you could make anything sound right. Example machlin was at least a B last year we know him, his new partner was the 6th player taken in this years draft. Add the B to the 6th best and you could make the statement that they will be much improved so I give them an A-. The D-line added a solid end, Docket is in his second year played almeost every down last year. Berry was great should stay great so the D-line A+. So forth and so on.

Areas you really can't grade
QB is he 1997 or is he 2004?
Offensive line new addittion. Davis should be better, Ross, Brown ??
RB..WE know Shipp he is if healthy above average, JJ over 2000 yards last year?
LB. New MLB New right side Dansby more expierance could be great if he stays healthy
Special teams. Loads of new players except punter and kicker who knows who?

Start grading out the last pre season game.

I would think our Dline would get an A Dockett, Berry and our new guy on the front line! Davis is better than he looks too, he has a different job than the others and is there to occupy two players...

QB's- C+

Even if Warner is an A, our backup is McCown which I would have to give in F.

RB's- B-

If JJ keeps up playing brilliantly, like reports out of MiniCamps so far. And, if Shipp plays like we know he is capable. With JR Redmond and Jackson This has to be the most depth we've ever had. So far we don't have a superstar, but we do got a lot of pretty good players. Sure beats Emmitt, Scobey, Croom, Anderson, and Hambrick.

WR's- A

We have one of the best WR trios in the league. Fitz should breakout, and Boldin should be healthy. Johnson isn't asked to do much, but he comes through alot for us on 3rd and long. Holiday and McCoy might be pretty decent additions also. I heard Holiday had a nice MiniCamp.

OL- C

Really unknown, can go up to an A or down to a F during the season. My thoughts they will just be average.

TE- C

No big names, but one might make himself a big name. Rowen being a TE coach, will more then likely try to get a TE into the gameplan. Who's it gonna be, I don't know. There are probaly only 10 really good TE's in the league. The rest are just nobody's. So we're just like those other 22 teams.

DL- A

Should be the strong point of the defense again this year. We all know what Berry can do, with the addition of him saying his goals are set higher then last year, couldn't hurt. Dockett is really coming on, and has probowl potential. Chike Okefor should have his best year to date, Seriously they can't double team the three of them. Davis improved last year, but I think Bryant will have a good year this year. I think it might be a contract year for him, so he can't be to lazy. From the local talk radio, they said he has been working his @#$ off this offseason. King coming back is also nice, but how long till he breaks his wrist again?

LB- C+

Dansby has probowl potential, he might be the only LB with it though. Huff really doesn't excite me all that much, Blackstock should bag a couple sacks this year. James Darling is solid. Lance Mitchell, might become a very good player. But I think the LB core is like the OL. Might end up being an F or A, who knows. But there job's will be easir with the D-Line

DB- A

Its not deep at all, but I have full confidence in Rolle and Macklin. There job should be made alot easier with all the pressure up front. Wilson will be a probowler this year, and Griffith as long as he is just as good at coverage as Ohalayte and can tackle, which he can, its a total upgrade.

You'd give McCown an F?
Dang, I know he's not a Gus Ferotte (sp?) type backup, but I don't think he's worthy of an F, as far as a backup goes, I'd take him over say, Shaun King, or ah, who else has been a backup? Um... Somebody else name a backup they'd take McCown over. Or wouldn't take over him.
