I'm tired of it to, because they aren't ahead of schedule - in my opinion they are just on schedule.

Just about everyone on the board picked them as 9-8 or 8-9 and that is exactly the pace they are on.

I think we all know the 49'ers are the better team and will in all likelihood win the division and keep the Cards out of the playoffs.
overall yes but not the first 7-9 weeks based on this schedule

three teams fall into the Venn Diagram of Despair: the intersection of "bad football team" and "over the cap in 2025"

Saints
Dolphins
Browns

i think these teams would be open to trading players who are signed beyond this year, especially players who may not be on the roster when their playoff chances open again ( two years from today).

Who are your targets??
There are lots of players and most of them depend on the price.

Saints
Cam Jordan
Carl Granderson

Cleveland
Z Smith
Myles Garrett
Shelby Harris
Part of me in interested in Wyatt Teller

Obviously Maxx and Trey. Same with Landry and Simmons. doesn't sound like any of them are available.

FYI Ojulari has 6 sacks on 8 pressures. Very Gardeck like.

It's better than nothing but I hope for better even if I don't expect it.
I don't think there will be much better available than Ojulari. Ojulari is young and could potentially be a piece moving forward.

Za'Darius Smith is the only other guy I would consider but he would only be a 1-2 year rental at best. It would have to be a 6th rounder or later to go after Smith for me.

Carl Granderson is the best of the non Landry, Garrett, Maxx, Simmons, and Trey group.

Granderson is my #1.

Smith and Ojulari are more of what costs me the least.

Cam is more of a 7th rounder only option but I like vets mixed with young players.

Granderson would be awesome but why would the Saints want to move on from him?
I think they could legitimately get a 3rd for him and he is probably a cut candidate in year 2/3 of their next run. Now, it isn't in their nature to blow things up, but adding draft picks to be able to navigate some of these terrible contracts is a decent option.

the Saints are both done for 2024 AND $80mm over the 2025 salary cap
The Saints are always way over next years cap. That is how they role. They will just restructure contracts in the offseason and be fine. I don't see why they would move on from a pass rusher just entering his prime.

I can see the Saints wanting to get rid of Jordan. He is at the end of his career and has massively showed that he has slowed down this season. He doesn't have a future with that team. The question is does Jordan have anything left? Jordan has Zero sacks this season and looks like a shell of his old self.

I'd be shocked if they moved off of Granderson. They just resigned him to a big extension last season. It would definitely take a day two pick to snag him if he was available.

He will be 29 next year.
Oops I misread his page. Thought he was 27 this year.

I still believe he is in the Saints plans moving forward. His contract is good through the 2027 season and he will only be 31 that year. So just when he might start his decline.

I am sure they would like to but other than Lattimore, I am not sure who else they can get much for. It seems like an easier move when you know you will have a new HC and new defensive scheme after the season.

I get your point, but this feels different in NO. Fired their coach.

The question on the Saints is who is left that is worth restructuring?
they have: Cam Jordan, Lattimore, D Carr, Ramczyk, Taysom Hill and Eric McCoy who collectively have $84mm in 2025 salary that can be converted to a bonus to help with the cap -- its not dollar for dollar, but if you give them a 4 year "extension" -- it saves $60mm from the 2025 cap.

but: Taysom Hill? Cam Jordan? do you really want to push those dollars into the future?

Good grief: Derek Carr has a $52mm cap hit next season.

Not interested in giving up a conditional 3rd for Ojulari. that would be terrible.
It’s a little overpay, but it’s a seller’s market. I’m not super opposed as it looks like that third will be in the bottom half of the round. I also think the 2 brothers would push each other.
