Indianapolis Colts' free agent safety Julian Blackmon is visiting with the Carolina Panthers on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport.

Still only 26 years old, Blackmon has been a key figure on the back end of the Colts' defense for several seasons now.

After putting together a career year in 2023 at strong safety, Blackmon tested the free agent market last offseason before returning to the Colts on a one-year deal for the 2024 season.

While he again began the year at strong safety, a shoulder injury that he suffered in Week 1 forced him to move back to the free safety role. Blackmon would confirm after the season that he played almost the entire year with a torn right labrum, according to The Athletic's James Boyd.

Numbers-wise, we didn't see the same productivity from Blackmon in 2024 as we did in 2023, but in part, that came with being at free safety vs. strong safety and not being as close to the action as often. One would also think the shoulder injury that he played through all season was some sort of factor as well.

Blackmon finished the 2024 season with 84 total tackles, according to PFF. He allowed a completion rate of 65% on 23 targets at 16.8 yards per catch and had three interceptions and one pass breakup.
