Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz made another step towards his comeback as he trained again with the ball on Wednesday, the Bild newspaper reported.
Wirtz has been sidelined since early March due to a ligament injury in his right ankle.
He's not training with the team yet and there's not date for his potential return, but Leverkusen expect him to be back in the squad for the final games of the season.
During his absence, Bundesliga and German Cup champions Leverkusen were eliminated from the Champions League and their Cup title defence ended with a 2-1 shock defeat to third-division Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday.
In the Bundesliga, they sit six points behind leaders Bayern Munich with seven games left.
