One of the local sports guys on tv last night said there are some in the organization that expect Smith to miss the whole year but would be happy if it's 6-8 games so it could be even more than PFT is reporting.

I also heard rumblings there was another incident with him and local cops in Santa Clara that hasn't gotten public, nothing major but enough that it might show Goodell his problems are not behind him.

If dudes are getting a year for pot, logic would indicate that he gets the same if not more.

But Godell doesn't operate on logic, so....

"I wish Aldon hadn't driven drunk and made terrorism threats at the dang airport, now I have to suspend him like half the sason, heck maybe ALL the season! That sucks, I wish he would have just stayed home and beat on his woman like a responsible NFL player, these guys just dont get it..." ~ Roger

If you think that's bad TJ, I heard on NFL insiders yesterday rumors are that Gordon is possibly only gonna get 8 games for the Brownies. Lol

Stay tuned...for more of how the Commish continues to be inconsistent with suspensions!!!

Doesn't matter, to be honest. We're built to beat the best team they can field. I'd rather beat them with him than without anyway. It's time our Cards got their due, and I don't want to hear how we beat a weakened 49er team, because I think we're good enough to beat the best team they can possibly put on the field.

I'm much more concerned with how the NFL allows women to be treated. To me, it's a joke that Ray Rice gets 2 games, while DWash gets a year. I know DWash broke the rules, not just once, but multiple times. But Ray Rice hit his woman, knocked her out cold, then dragged her out an elevator. If they happened to be in some back country podunk nothing town he would have dragged her down the road until his boys could send a car. Ridiculous. Frankly, they can institute whatever pot infraction they want, but the fact that they allow women to be treated in such a fashion is a total joke. And I'm not just talking about these few instances.

Pot rules are clear cut in the CBA. Goodell doesn't even rule on it, it is what it is, which is the policy that the players approved on. Personal conduct policy is up to his discretion so its pretty easy for it to look out of whack when one has clear guidelines and the other doesn't. The players were absolute idiots for not putting clear cut rules in for personal conduct as well. I agree things are out of whack but with the CBA set up the way it is, it will always be that way.

Gordon and Dwash are completely different cases. Washington has zero leg to stand on in an appeal. You cant appeal failing a test and missing 3 mandatory tests in a row. There just isn't any appeal for that. Gordon didn't miss any tests so at least his lawyer can fight how the sample was done, because Dwash was an even bigger idiot then Gordon, Dwash doesn't get to have the same "day in court".

FWIW hearing that Smith had a "shouting match" in a parking lot with someone over a disagreement on parking, and that person called the police thinking the big guy was getting out of control. Supposedly happened a few weeks ago in Santa Clara, no charges filed but I would imagine it goes on the record that they sent to Goodell before they met.

I'm not disputing the rules in the CBA as they're cut and dry, but the hierarchy of punishment in the NFL overall is silly. Ben Patrick gets 4 games for Adderal; whereas, Ray Rice gets 2 for beating his fiancé and dragging her unconscious body in and out of an elevator. Players have to be less stupid, but the punishment simply doesn't fit the crime, IMO.
