The New Orleans Saints sent a whole contingent to Coral Gables for the Miami Hurricanes pro day to start the week, including head coach Kellen Moore and general manager Mickey Loomis. The move was the most clear sign of the team’s interest in Cam Ward. There are other players who the Saints should have interest in present, but that is the type of turn out reserved for a first overall draft pick.

Ward has expressed it would be a dream to play for the Saints, but it takes two to tango. The Tennessee Titans aren’t making it easy either. Speaking with 1025 The Game on Nashville sports radio this Thursday, Yahoo Sports senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson said the Titans are looking for three first-round picks, "or something of that value," just to move back to third overall with the New York Giants. That seems extreme, but tax for a franchise quarterback and the first overall pick can inflate trade value.

If that’s how much they want to move back two picks, just imagine what they’re looking for from the Saints to move from No. 1 to No. 9. Even if the Saints bargain it down to the desired compensation for the Giants, that’s still a lot to fork over.

This would potentially leave the Saints without a first-round pick for 2026 and 2027. For a team in desperate need of young new talent, it should be a legitimate question of the reward outweighs the risk. At the same time, you can't really put a price on a franchise quarterback. If the Saints believe Ward can turn their fortunes around, they'll pull out all the stops to try and get him.
