It's better than getting nothing - there was zero chance he was staying.

We were going to cut him without a trade

Why?

Because we’re set with a fat, chronically injured Andre Smith who already lost jobs in Cindy?

This team is going back to penny-wise, pound foolish.

Depending on a perpetual MASH unit upfront that’s also not overly talented is a great idea considering they’re going to have to protect Mr. Glass?

We’re not tight up against the cap. Unless we’re actually gobig to use this room, I don’t get gutting depth in an area that’s not even a strength.

It should be a high 6th rounder. Looks like #182 overall. 8th pick in the 6th round.

It also takes away some ammo if they want to consider a trade up, while giving us more, if we do (Anywhere in the 1st, 2nd, wherever).

Not saying it is what I would have done, but writing has been on the wall here for awhile. Frees up some cap money, but not exactly sure who we are using it on at this point. Maybe a DJ extension or something.

Spotrac has us with 17.8 mill cap space after the trade. Well if I trade Veldheer for nothing to Denver.

Just a hunch, but I think they are starting to see if they can stockpile some lower round picks, because they are about to unload the truck to move up into the top 3.

I think 4,6,7 or 8 is more likely, as the top 3 are set or out of our price range give our current roster.

He wasn't going to play this year and he frees up space. It's a no brainer and I don't blame teams for not giving more than a 6th. He's near retired. If we cut him, we had dead money on the cap. Now we don't AND we have another pick

We need room for incentives, rookies and extentions in the cap.

There is no high dollar CB available, this wasn't making room for a CB, that room is already there as the remaining CBs arent going to get high dollar

We need CBs, wrs, te's etc and still have a good 30 spots open on the roster. More picks is a good thing

How do you know he wasn’t going to play this year? Is it because of how solid and healthy our starting tackles are?

Lol... we need room for incentives, rookies and extensions? With 100 million dollars next year in cap room that money can be pushed into?

They do nothing at CB and WR for the 2nd year in a row which you’ve defended and now you’re grasping at straws to defend the team gutting another position to make it go from a relative weakness to likely disaster.

Man, this is an ugly offseason.

Our starting RT is making 2.5 million dollars. You get what you pay for.

Yes. Now they can go out and get a decent CB hopefully.

That ship already sailed... last offseason when they decided not to bring back CC/Jefferson... and still did nothing at corner except cut Our starter’s salary.

We have dead cap space regardless.. the dead cap money comes from bonus money we already paid him that we haven't accounted for in the cap yet, and you can't trade that. I heard there is 3 mil in dead cap space for Veldheer.
