Denver Broncos Updated:03/14/2005
Reuben Droughns wants to be a starting running back, but interest in him has been slow-going because of what the Denver Post describes as a "glut of running backs" on the market. Droughns rushed for 1,240 yards last season. He hasn't ruled out returning to the Broncos as the team's starting fullback.

Why are we not looking at this guy. Not Injured. Would come relativly inexpensive. Wont cost a pick. Has had some success.

And at the rate Denver churns out 1,000 yard rushers, he could just be a product of the system. Is anyone clamoring for Olandis Gary and Mike Anderson these days?

More interesting is too look at backs after they leave Denver. They never hold their previous performance standards. They are products of the system.

Clinton Portis would be an exception in this case.

I think the jury is still out on him. He didn't exactly blow my skirt up last year, if you know what I mean.

Agreed. Don't tug on Superman's cape. Don't spit in the wind. You don't take the mask from the ole Lone Ranger and you don't trade for a team with a Running Back farm based on an system of zone blocking by the offensive line.

He fumbles like crazy also. That's why Shanahan sat him and played Tatum Bell last year. I agree with what everyone else is saying. He's a product of the system.

Droughns is decent, but not good enough to waste a high pick on. I think his success has as much or more to do with a Denver run blocking juggernaught that makes even ordinary RB's look good.
