Dbacks were talking trade of 3B Mark Reynolds with Atlanta, Seattle, KC and Minnesota before the firings and were set to move him!

Josh Byrnes was prepared to trade Chris Snyder, Chad Qualls, Mark Reynolds and Adam LaRoche but not Dan Haren

Don't know what to think about this one.

WTF??? Thank goodness Byrnes is gone. He was treating this team like an eternal fire sale getting rid of player, after player, after player.

This isn't really news, Rosenthal reported last week that everyone on the roster was available except Upton. Even Drew was a potential chip. I really don't know what I would do if I was DiPoto. Do I trade some hitters for relief pitching but weaken my offense by doing so without much on the farm ready to replace them? We can keep both Jackson and Haren contrary to reports that we must trade one for salary cap relief, remember Webb will not be back and Eric Byrnes deal is up as well. Unless we get a ML ready hitter in a deal for a young guy like Reynolds then no dice. I could see LaRoche getting dealt as Allen looks ready. Haren needs to and will remain a D'Back, reportedly teams aren't offering much for him thinking ARZ will start a fire sale before the new regime takes over next year.

If anything they should trade for farm guys, we don't have the funds to buy up talent so we need to strengthen the system again and try and hit on the next crop of prospects. This season's beyond repair and trading away a guy like Reynolds for relief pitching is a terrible idea. If a player like him is shipped off I'd hope to at least get 1 legit pitching prospect who isn't too far off.

You could see last night 06/07 that he is trying to change his approach at the plate. It's gonna take some time, you don't change bad habits overnight. I really do think he's trying.

I like Reynolds even with the K's. Hope he gets back on track soon though because it is a little ridiculous...

WTF??? Thank goodness Byrnes is gone. He was treating this team like an eternal fire sale getting rid of player, after player, after player.

Why wouldn't Byrnes treat this team like a fire sale at this point? What about this team is worth adding to?

Gossip is that Dipoto can't make any moves without express ownership approval and was given a list of players he can work deals on all at a time when teams are most likely to overpay for talent to get the playoff push.

If this team wasn't constructed poorly enough to have a fire sale then letting the GM go seemed short sighted, if this team needs to blow it up and rebuild from scratch then ownerships micromanaging an interim GM to not make any serious moves seems incompetent. This team will continue to be stagnant for years with this ownership group.

Meanwhile the new manager isn't getting any better results than the previous one did and the players have given up on the two proceeding guys. Fans have some sort of impression that this manager will be different despite directly contradicting reports from the clubhouse on his actual demeanor.

He's got the players practicing bunt defense for 3.5 hours and yet Reynolds makes one of the stupidest plays I've ever seen a MLB defender attempt last night in the inning the Cubs went ahead 5-3 right after we tied the score. On top of that, surprise, the bullpen is failing this manager as horribly as they did the last one.

Anyone who thought replacing Byrnes and Hinch is going to turn things around is going to be sorely disappointed.

Trade Reynolds. Can't stand watching his at-bats.

"Is going to" -- there's the key phrase.

In these times of 30-second sound bytes and instant gratification, it's not surprising for anyone to expect an instant turnaround.

Our players' psyches and skills have mis-handled by the two previous managers.

Did anyone truly believe it would turn around in a week? We're supposed to give up on the new management?

The ownership, yeah, because it's the same-old-same-old.

The day-to-day field management -- let's give them a chance.

And if you want to give up, go find another team.

Funny how the players have now gotten two managers fired and yet they get a free pass from some. At some point the millionaires need to find their own motivation.

My comments are just shoving those words back at the people who for some reason mythologize Gibson and manufacture perceived skills that have little to no relation to reality. Those people who, when Hinch was hired, called for experience are now asking for time for a manager that has none.

The truth is I don't really have anything against Gibby and I feel a bit sorry for him in the situation he inherited, but he's become the latest idol for the fans that have no real concept of how to run a MLB team, where the real limitations come from, and have a history of being cow-towed to by management only to have it explode in their face time after time.

Now, why can't you keep on topic and always go to the personal? If we're dishing out suggestions to each other I've got a few ideas on where you can stick yours. Otherwise how about you apologize?

...how about you apologize?
For wanting to see my home team succeed, and not giving up on them after 5 games of a Managerial change?

With all due respect, I really wouldn't be comfortable doing that.

I didn't do it to Hinch after zero managing or coaching experience.

And I won't do it to Gibson.

Why is an apology to another poster even mentioned for having my own feelings and opinions and hopes?

I've been posting to this D'backs and Suns site, as well as the sites that preceeded them, for many years. And I enjoy reading others' opinions as well as sharing my own.

After all, this is a leisure activity.

So I'm putting my hopes in Gibson but, as I said earlier on this thread,

That's what I feel. Even with the smallest crowd of the year at Chase Field tonight.

'Anyone else out there agree?

It doesn't matter who the manager is right now when you have players that aren't playing up to the abilities (with the exception of CY). Every game it's something with this team whether it's not scoring enough runs, giving up too many runs, or both. Since Qualls was to be the answer at closer and is struggling so much it's well past the time to shake things up by making trades for a reliable one or bringing someone up. This obviously wouldn't fix everything, but it would be a much needed step in the right direction.
