Then you haven't been watching.
Please, argue how Brandon Flowers, a player who was cut by the Chiefs outright, has played better than Patrick Peterson.
Regarding Davis, did you see what Dez Bryant did last week vs the Colts? How about Odell Beckum going for 156? How about Antonio Brown going 10 catches for 133 and 2 TDs?
That is what I have been watching. Guys have stinkers some times, but I have seen Peterson shut down Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant. I haven't seen Davis shut down any top players this year if I recall correctly.
Brandon Browner was released outright and he's a more solid CB as well.
Browner is a name out of the hat? He's a fairly recent all pro CB.
Three years ago is not fairly recent.
flowers is playing at a very high level.
Des Bryant is perhaps the most physically gifted WR in the NFL. He's arguably the best of the best. Just because a guy had a lot of catches in a game does not mean they were all on one particular player.
Three years ago is not fairly recent.
So by these standards, anyone who shuts down possibly the best of the best might be one of the best of the best at his position... yup, I agree Peterson is one of the best

I like how some here think three seasons ago is the distant past. Especially when the guy is still playing at a high level.
It's tough to come to a conclusion that doesn't favor Sherman when watching this season's tape. The numbers themselves don't lie either. Sherman is Pro Football Focus' fourth-rated cornerback this season, while Peterson checks in 76th (out of 110). Quarterbacks have completed only 25 of 56 passes directed Sherman's way, for 347 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, good for a 48.7 quarterback rating. They're 51 of 88 for 717 yards, eight touchdowns and three picks when throwing at Peterson, who's allowed a 100.4 quarterback rating.
This is the #1 paid CB in the National Football League that we're talking about:

Cue the excuses that the Peterson has to adjust to the new rule (as opposed to everyone else in the league) and that he NEVER gets safety help and is always on an island (even though earlier in the thread, the excuse was made that half of his TDs against we're because of not getting help from the safety or being picked).
I have said he isn't the best. I have said he needs to improve. Still one of the top 10 CBs in the NFL. He isn't the best.
That wasn't necessarily meant for you Chopper. It's just the litany of excuses some give the guy that I just can't buy.
I think its funny that people try to defend Peterson's play by making excuses for him.
He's the HIGHEST paid CB in the NFL. He will be rightfully held to HIGHER STANDARDS THAN EVERY OTHER CB IN THE NFL.
With more money comes higher expectations and standards. Peterson should have known this otherwise he shouldn't have signed that contract.
Like what? Peterson gets more flack on this board than anyone on the team; some of it merited, some not.
No one is excusing his play as he can be much better.
