ok? so you havent visited a message board in over a month obviously.

The people clamoring about Dirk are the same ones who think we can still offer a max contract if Amare leaves.

But youre on board to bring in luis frickin scola who is 3 years older and going to command a 10m a year.. dude couldnt hold a candle to lee.

personally i want neither lee nor scola. they're both bandaids meant to hold together the illusion of this current group of players being a "contender" or playoff team. in reality the nash/hill years are few left which means we end up with a cast of mediocre players at what i believe are inflated prices (lee at $10M+ and frye at $6M). those are not terrible contracts, but a group of 'em ends up strapping you in the future so that you can only continue to sign midlevel FA's instead of the "big bang" guys, which means you just cycle right back into mediocrity (defined as 40 win seasons to 7 or 8 seeds in the playoffs). in other words, welcome back to the kidd/googs years. yawn.

ESPN was predicting Boozer receive a contract starting at 12 mil per.

I hope so. But there are just too many teams with cap space and too few high caliber FAs out there. Let's wait and see.

Reality is painful right now so I'm going to enter fantasy land . . .

* Gambo says TOR wants to talk to Amare.
* Bosh is leaving TOR no matter what.
* Bosh wants super max.
* Amare wants 5+ years.
* S&T's must occur for the above two criteria to be met.

If TOR can talk Amare into coming to TOR for 5-6 years at near max money (more than Amare can get w/out a S&T) and PHX can sell Bosh on their chances with the pick and roll w/ Nash and all of our players returning, then I'd bet Sarver would be willing to give Bosh the super max and probably send an extra pick or other piece to TOR for the pleasure.

There is almost nothing to indicate this would happen, but often the expected moves (Bosh to MIA/CHI) don't happen.

It appears in an article written by Craig Morgan of Foxsportarizona that the Suns may have interest in Tyrus Thomas and that Amare may have already received the offer he wants elsewhere.

Amar’e Stoudemire’s free-agency stint could be short-lived. A source familiar with the negotiations confirmed that Stoudemire received a better offer on Thursday from another NBA team than anything he has or expects to receive from the Suns.

The source said Stoudemire could agree to that deal as soon as Friday, leaving the Suns in the market for a replacement power forward.

With Stoudemire apparently out of the picture, the Suns are said to be on the verge of offering restricted free agent Tyrus Thomas a contract of undisclosed terms on Friday.

If reports are that Sarver was offering a four-year maximum extension on top of Stoudemire's (now declined) option year, which would have taken him until 2014-15 at huge dollars, how can another team have that beat without a sign-and-trade?

It was not an extension, just a four year contract as I understood it, or I guess a three year extension maybe. Any how, the end result was 4 total years

I hope the Suns don't offer a 5 year deal. Let him walk, or do S&T. I doubt we will be able to do a S&T. I rather lose than have a no-hussle, selfish bball player getting max with bad knees.

As I understood it, Amare would have received the final year of his contract (17M+) and a three year extension from the Suns. Still nice money for four years.

I agree, S & T or let him walk. But for me, it's solely because of his knees and eyes. I think his on court play warrants a max contract if you consider the max as appropriate for more than just the 3 or 4 best players in the game. But with his injury history, it's just not worth the risk.

I hate to say it, but if Amare leaves the Suns it will relieve my constant fear of his getting injured again. I think a long contract with Amare is risky business. If Amare gets mega bucks I cannot fault Sarver unless I find out Sarver turns down a sign and trade.

If its the Heat that are going to get Amare, I would take back Beasley and a pick. Riley wants to unload Beasley. We need to stockpile picks and there is always a chance Amare will be injured, so we could hit the lottery and get something good.

I think Amare is going to NY...I just think they are offering him the super max he can get plus under D'Antoni, he knows he won't have to worry about his "cough" defensive game.

If they are offering the super max, then we get a S&T. I want a pick and the TE. NY is still not going to be that good if they don't get LeBron. It should be easy to squeaze an unprotected pick out of DAntoni, he hates rookies.

I am not sure it will go so well, even at the beginning. Everyone's heart is set on LeBron. Amare is the consolation prize without LeBron. DAntoni is already taking heat and Amare will be seen as his guy.

There should be lots of dough though, with endorsements and such.

Very true. He won't care though. He'll have 100M reasons not to.

And I'd bet a nickel you're wrong. Amare wants to be a great player. He wants the respect and adoration that comes along with it and if/when NY turns on him he'll be devastated. I'm not saying the money doesn't matter to him but there is more to the guy than money, IMO. He's not Joe Johnson.

NY will love amare for a year and then tear him to shreds.

If the Knicks end free agency with Amare and another non-Lebron/Wade player. AMare will get ripped so bad.... Most Knick fans I've met already ripped him for his laziness and lack of defensive ability so I wonder if they will change their tune once he comes here lol. Knick fans love guys who play smart and play D. They aren't those types who get hyped on dunks. And unless they get Chris Paul, some scrub will be running the point as well. It will be a marriage made in hell in 2 years.. But hey Amare is smart, he is going to a place where he doesn't have to play a lick of defense.

You think he'll last a whole year? I don't. Knicks fans will be all over him by the All-Star Break.

If he's the star of that team, they're in a lot of trouble. However, if NY can land another piece or two they should be a decent regular season team. For one year, that might be enough to assuage the NY media and fans.

Okay, whatever I read was unclear then. I thought that mainly Sarver was offering option year plus three, but then he went up to option year plus four at the last meeting.
