I'll probably get stuck by lightning but I agree with Crazy Canuck.
Just a question for you pro-marijuana folks or those who smoke it regularly, have any of you been unemployed during stretches of your life? I was reading this study that links pot to unemployment and also professional underacheivement.
Basically you don't see successful professionals puffing away. (Of course there are always aberrations) I understand that there may be some medicinal benefits to the drug, but the recreational users aren't quite cutting it in society from a professional stand point.
I smoked pretty regularly untill about 2 1/2 years ago when I could not afford it and also I have responsibilities other than recreation to deal with.
I never missed a day of school, I worked consistently through that time, never was fired, never missed work, played rugby & never missed a practice or game and was an upstanding citizen.
Though I seem to see a lot a people who "had a few beers" on the weekend missing Monday's on a consistant basis. I could go on all day about alcohol, food, video games, and TV. And there effect on society, and the people that are addicted to those things as well, but we don't have all day.
Nothing personal (and appreciate you adding the conversation), but the statement in bold is ridiculous. How the heck would you know ? It is not like people proclaim out loud they smoke, even less so in a professional setting. The only thing I do know, is that there are A LOT more people who smoke pot then you, I or the government will ever know.
Drugs (the "war" on drugs) is a modern day witch hunt. It is the easiest way to throw someone under the bus and get them in trouble with the law.
As for your "study".
I would like the guy who came up with this poll to explain to me how the unemployed have the $$$ to buy pot, and get back to me. Let me guess, cause 80% of these "unemployed" are college students, or young kids that turned 18 a day ago? What is the percentage of people that are employed that smoke pot as well ?
It would scare you to death how many CEO's, head's of companies, and governments smoke.
You wanna talk about the negatives of pot. Low sperm count, short term memory defficiency, and neurological problems for long term use. At least stick to the facts.
Stay away from "studies" (truth.com, above the influence), and government information. They are completely false propaganda
By the way I HOPE I didn't seem like I was throwing lightning. I was trying not to.
