I'm going to miss him. Loved him in Midnight Run, Get Shorty and so many other movies. Just a great character actor that rarely strayed from the cop or mobster kind of role but always nailed it. RIP.

BIM - you do realize we have a TV Forum?

He appeared in both TV shows and films. Regardless, most general news about actors and actresses or the entertainment biz itself end up in Movies and Entertainment.

Hence the forum description: Talk about anything related to the big screen, DVD's, actors and all that jazz.

He did a recent run on New Girl and he was pretty funny in that. The guy could do a mobster, a tough guy and could be hilarious. Talented actor.

He was awesome in "Midnight Run". This sucks. or as he would say ....."@$#& that".

Jimmy Serrano: Is this moron number one? Put moron number two on the phone!

I'm not fond of remakes but a friend and I play a "what if" casting game for possible remakes. I always thought he'd be perfect for Robert Shaw's role in The Sting.

Doctor: Dennis Farina was being treated for cancer
July 23, 2013, 2:28 PM EST
NEW YORK (AP) -- Dennis Farina's doctor says the actor died while being treated for lung cancer.

Farina, who died Monday after suffering a blood clot in his lung, had been under treatment for the cancer for several months, according to his cardiologist, Dr. Marc A. Kates.

Thirteen years ago Farina had been diagnosed with "a small cancer that was treated and cured with surgery," Kates said in a statement on Tuesday.

But in recent months the cancer had recurred, and despite ongoing treatment, the blood clot "unexpectedly and suddenly took his life," Kates said.
