The In Memoriam segment of the Oscars is going to be brutal to watch. So many of the bright lights of my lifetime left us this year.

His resume is so far beyond awesome. It is a sad, sad day to lose him.

Who doesn't love all these movies?

Caddyshack
Ghostbusters
Vacation
Animal House
Stripes
Back to School
Meatballs
Groundhog Day

And he was a main writer for SCTV. Too young.

In the pantheon of Comedic Geniuses, he might be second only to Mel Brooks, in terms of the cinematic contributions he leaves behind. And he did it relatively quietly.

There hasn't been a celebrity death in years that has touched me like his has. His films are the films of my teens and early 20's

In that group above are several of my top 10 films.

Sad day. Glad that I am old enough to have seen most of his films in the theater when I was a kid - and many times over throughout the years. He made some classics that's for sure. RIP, Harold.

I swear to God, one of the Ghostbusters dying, for me, must be like how my parents felt when one of the Beatles died.

He was one of my idols. An incredible comic genius...and incredibly sad day for movie fans everywhere.

He had so many great 1 liners in that movie. He was a talent. People forget that he provided the voice for the space coke snorting Zeke in Heavy Metal. I'm hoping he mended fences with Bill Murray as IIRC they had a falling out some time ago which was the reason why we never got another Ghostbusters movie. RIP Harold. You were 1 in a million.

A punch in the gut you don't expect until it happens. He was involved with a ton of movies I grew up with and loved. RIP

In honor of the man:

Dr. Egon Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

Let's not forget his "serious" role as Dr. Bettes in As Good As it Gets.

RIP Sir! You will be missed.

Bill Murray gave him an impromptu shout out during the cinematography award. I thought it was a sweet moment.
