Yeah he's apparently VERY popular in the PI. I don't know if it's because of his movies, charities or both but I've got several tributes on my FB page now and they're all from Filipinos.
Sad, lots of stuff out there from the porsche lost all it's power steering fluid just before the crash to they were street racing. THe driver was apparently a professional driver.
They ruled out street racing now. It was an unsubstantiated tip. Those cars supposedly have no auto stability system and they are hard to handle. Was watching a pro talk about that car and said if you are traveling at a high rate of speed and have a blow out on that car, it's almost impossible for even a pro to handle. I am betting that is exactly what happened.
They are saying they might be able to figure out what happened by retrieving the computer in the car and surrounding business camera footage.
Also to add more horrifying news the autopsy results indicate he died from injuries and the fire both. That indicates he did not die instantly and burned alive with his injuries. Hope to god he was unconscious as I can't imagine the horror if he was even semi conscience.

Really sad. My cousin lives in the town where they filmed The Skulls (was actually filmed in Toroto, not Yale) and was an extra in the film. He said Paul was a super nice guy who came over and talked to the locals a lot and did a bunch of stuff with local kids while they were there.
He said he was the complete opposite of Josh whats his name the kid fron Dawsons creek, who by all accounts is a Dbag.

Haven't heard anyone say anything bad about him. Seems like he was a really nice guy in real life. Down to earth and into helping people. Love this story about how he helped a military couple get an engagement ring ...

The Porsche carrying "Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker was traveling approximately 90 mph when it lost control on a suburban street and crashed, killing the actor and his friend, according to an investigation by law enforcement agencies into the November accident.
The sports car slammed into a light pole which had a speed limit sign of 45 mph, killing Walker and Roger Rodas in a fiery wreck.
Investigators concluded that unsafe driving, not mechanical problems, caused the crash, according to a person who has reviewed a report by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol. Investigators calculated that Rodas was driving between 81 mph and 94 mph when his 2005 Porsche Carrera GT began to drift as it lost control after coming out of a curve.
"The vehicle had no mechanical failure and the damage that occurred to the vehicle was from the collision," accident reconstruction specialists with the Highway Patrol wrote, according to the person, who requested anonymity because the report has not been officially released yet.
A spokeswoman said Tuesday that the Sheriff's Department had no new information to release regarding the investigation into the Nov. 30 crash. "We will have something in the very near future," department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida wrote in an email. The CHP declined comment.

I was watching an interview with a mechanic whose specialty was in those cars. He was saying that if they had a tire malfunction, that could have caused the accident and it won't show up in the investigation since they were basically melted. That may not be considered "mechanical" but I think that still sounds more viable versus simply losing control of a vehicle being as experienced as the driver was.
Agree. The tires were nine years old and the recommendation for that car is to get new tires every four years.
