One game doesn't wash away nearly 3 seasons of underwhelming play. He has the rest of this season and next year to prove yesterday want an aberration...which is exactly what it was in the context of his career to date

One game? He has been playing well ALL YEAR. And that says something considering how bad this team has been playing. Through the first 5 or 6 games of the year, he was a top 10 lineman in the NFL.

PFF ranks him #102. Above average player. Doesn't pass the eye test for me individually. He is about two mars away from being a top 10 lineman in the NFL.

He’s playing pretty well this year. It sucks that he can’t stay healthy. Hopefully he can keep playing like he did Sunday for the rest of the year. We really need him and Reddick to mature this year so they can help the defense out next season.

The dude balled out of his mind on Sunday , was the only bright spot for the team . If this his new norm pair him with a young stud DL in the draft and we could have a very disruptive front

To count on consistency from Nkemdiche is a mistake. However, if you want a really good rotational guy, to play 35-45% of snaps, he can do that and make an impact. The real question is cost which is why you would let the market outbid you for him if he wants more than 6 mil per year.

Nope. Now prove to me he hasn't been playing well this year. I'll be waiting.

Sure. Way to argue my point. Those (in the local media) that have been very critical of him throughout this career have been singing his praises this year. It isn't just my opinion.

As of right now, yes. Look at his QB pressures for the first 5 or 6 weeks of the season.

If you guys want to say he isn't playing well, feel free. 'Well' is subjective. It just wouldn't be backed up stats or expert opinions.

He's been slow to mature, and been injured, but he's come a long way this year and can be a productive member of a good DL if we get one more stud like Bosa or Oliver or Williams.
Hoping we get a top pick this coming year to multiply into several top picks in trades. Need DL, OL, LB and WR. We gotta shine this year in FA or it'll be too much to overcome in the draft alone.

I don't trust Nkemdiche one bit. The Cardinals need a stud 3 technique and Nkemdiche isn't the answer.

No problem. Now remember you stated he has been playing like a top 10 defensive lineman.

Nkemdiche

Has played in 8 out of 11 games with 6 starts
Had a total of 23 total tackles and 15 solo in the first 7 game and 2 sacks
That is an average of 3 total tackles and 2 solo tackles and 0.28 sacks per game
He has had one good game with 8 total tackles and 6 solo and 2.5 sacks
For the year to date 31 total tackles, 21 solo and 4.5 sacks
25% of his tackles and 55% of his sacks came in one game.

Corey Peters

Has played in 10 out of 11 game and 10 starts
Has 34 total tackles and 24 solo with 2 sacks
Has averaged 3.4 total tackles, 2.4 solo tackles and 0.2 sacks per game

Here are some other lineman stats

Kenny Clark GB
Total tackles - 48
Solo tackles - 32
Sacks - 6

Calais Campbell
Total tackles - 51
Solo tackles - 37
Sacks - 6

If Nkemdiche is a top ten lineman then Peters must be a top 5 lineman. Nkemdiche is ranked 36th in stats among linemen. Peters is 24th. That is a far cry from top 10.

Why worry about his cost a few years away?

He's cheap in 2019 and they have the 5th year option if wanted.

Isn't this only his 3rd year? Isn't he on a 4 year deal with 5th year team option?

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
yes. but this off season is when the team has to decide if they are going to use the fifth year option. the fifth year comes with a big pay hike.

This is the “Alan Branch” fork in the road
Yup. You just have to know what the right number is for what he has shown he can do. For me, a sub-package interior pass rusher is worth around 6 mil per year. If he can get more elsewhere, let him go.

What is interesting is how we have let guys like Alex Okafor and Kareem Martin go when we probably could have afforded the contracts that they were given and created a real position of strength. The same could be said for our secondary, but those departed players were more cost prohibitive. Seems like wasted opportunities.

Cardinals decline 5th year option. And Diche plays lights out final year, Can Cardinals put a franchise tag on the player?
