Nothing earth shattering but Smith says he heard from teammates when he was at Ohio State that they were getting money from boosters. Said nobody offered him money because they thought he might be "the whistle blower type".

I think this is the kinda guy that could get the ball rolling as far as a new investigation. I dont know if I ever heard or read a bad word about the character of Robert Smith. I think this thing wont go away soon.

PS Hey Robert.....Thinking of making a comeback???

What I found weird is Smith didn't even play for Tressel. I suspect as CBus said ESPN is just looking for more "story" so they're going to the likely guys and Smith has always been quotable and seen football from a different perspective so you'd assume he'd possibly give them some good stuff to print.

Fact is you could do the same story at just about any major football school including Stanford and you'd find someone who was getting something they weren't supposed to get.

So the good doctor has spoken. He has heard of boosters giving money to players.Earth shattering stuff there.Maybe he should write another book. This one may sell 10 copies.Like Russ said,it can be said about any major college program.ESPN's story has unraveled on them and they are looking for anything to back it up right now.Like i said before,Smith is the biggest cornholio i have ever met.

The funny thing is ALL of these allegations were all ready investigated by the NCAA for 6 months and they found nothing.

Does it happen? Of course. Will anybody find out about it if it happened here? Doubt it or they would have already found it in their first investigation.

It may happen at a lot of schools , but only some of them get probabtion or sanctions. Doesn't make it right for any school to do it.

Bad week for Ohio State. Now Jim O'Brien is suing The Ohio State University for breach of contract and wrongful termination.

P.S. A very good friend of mine, who is deeply connected in Akron/Youngstown athletics, claims Tressell is a big time cheat, and it is common knowledge there. I trust him big time.

ESPN reported last night, Thursday, that Tressell had the same thing come up at Youngstown State.

I agree with you 100%.I think Tressel is a corrupt guy who puts on a good public persona.I can't stand the guy. Now,Jim O'brien is one of my favorite coaches. What he got fired for is nothing compared to the Tressel allegations.O'brien is a stand-up guy and told the truth when asked and got canned. The guy who should be let go is the AD,Andy Geiger. This could be 3rd NCAA investigation in the last 18 months.Nothing has been found previously but if they keep getting called back then it's only a matter of time. The worst thing is i can't really rip on Wally for all the cheating at Miami. :D
