Yeah but don't fall for the trap where if they do well against the suns "they are awesome" Marresee is like 8pt and 3 boards, except vs the Suns he and many other hacks looks great. Hell Marcus Banks had many great games agains the Suns.
Speights is nothing but impressive this year. Look at his PER man. It's the same as Amare! As a rookie! He is shooting 53% from the field and 80 from the freethrow line.

He was my #1 choice predraft and still is.

You can't criticize them for this. What did you want them to say? "Well Brooke is way better, but we had to settle for Robin." You know which guy they would've picked given the choice.
No, before draft day they ranked who they wanted and put RoLo ahead of Brook.

Like, omgwtfseriously

Exactly, and in the NBA he's only 6' 1".....watch his knees bend tonight whenever he:
a) Gets the ball
b) Gets positioning for a rebound
b) Enters the paint
It's hysterical.
I've officially renamed him the Midget Clown.

I have never seen anybody make themselves that small in the low post. Every time I see it, I want to know what the hell he is thinking. :bang:

He's fine. He's a rookie. Just because he isn't uber talented and isn't a sure thing to one day average 24 points, 12 rebounds and doesn't have certain talents to make you go wow, doesn't mean he won't be a great pick. Many times it takes 2-3 years for a guy to develop. I expect nothing different with him. He won't be great, but if he has a 'Hot Wad' Williams type career, a 15 and 10 guy, then yes, I still believe he is on track for that and be worthy of his selection.

Our two draft picks, aren't Derrick Rose and Jarryd Bayless. They are freaking Robin Lopez and Goran Dragic. Both are projects. Robin is a project than you can put out on the floor more than most projects as he isn't completely clueless. If we're sitting here in 2011 or 2012 and he hasn't improved, then we'll know we made the wrong pick.

Robin looks stoned all the time. I understand reefer is stronger now than when I smoked it back in the early 70ies.

Speichts has a very good PER, as a rookie he is the #7 PF in the NBA in PER.

His development had to wait for elton brand to go down as he wasnt gettin the minutes behind brand.

Robin just looks akward out there. He can play some defense, hustle, but thats about it.

Suns should have looked elsewhere with #15. If Kerr wanted a center, he should have taken Hibbert.

This is the Midget Clown's posture whenever he enters the paint....regardless of whats going on around him. Bill Cartwright isn't paying attention apparently.

Yes. He is trying to play defense like a smaller player and not using his height to his advantage. Lopez seriously needs to add weight if he wants to have a career in the NBA. I miss Ivaroni.

Robin remind me of stick-man. :stick:

I don't find much to like about Robin's game but his posture looks fine to me in that picture. Of course he's got his knees flexed, he's moving hard laterally - in what school of body mechanics is that a problem? You could even say he's keeping himself coiled to leap. His leading foot is a bit high, I suppose - is that what you guys are fussing about?

I'm more concerned about the fact that he's guarding Rip H. - at what looks to be a fair distance from the hoop.

Maybe you guys ought to get together with Nowagimp - IIRC, he complains about guys defending without having their knees flexed enough.

That picture was the tip of the iceberg with how poor Lopez' stance is. Dont refute the entire claim because of one pic.

If he gets any minutes, watch him. This photo was all i could find on the net. Whenever, and i mean everytime he gets near or into the painted area he squats to a ridiculously low stance rendering his 7' stature to about 6feet tall. There's a time and place to get lower to gain leverage and center your balance but not every-single-time he goes in there. My guess is that he could get away with that in college due to his general size advantage but this is a glaring mechanics flaw at the NBA level.
Remember Andrew Lang? He had the same problem although not quite as bad, Lang was over-crouched(LOL) mostly whenever he got the ball in his hands on offense and went to any sort of postup move.

Dang, I'm going to have actually watch Robin play in order to credibly continue arguing with you... not sure its worth it. On purely theoretical grounds, I don't see it being a problem getting as low as he is the photo, however frequently. He's got his behind well stuck out and that's usually a plus on either end of the floor and he's got one hand up with the other one on the guys hip - classic Tim Duncan style in that regard. Sheesh, I might talk myself into liking him if I keep this up... better watch a bit.

There is nothing wrong with his stance in the photo because he is far from the basket and guarding Rip (although he probably shouldn't be in that situation). The problem is that he goes into that stance when he is around the basket which negates any advantage that his size provides him.

Brooke Lopez is a thief....

He must have stolen his brother's talent while they were in the womb.

How else can one explain the difference in the two?

If Robin puts on some weight and works real hard he might become as good as Gadzuric which is sadly probably not giving Gadzuric enough credit. On another note, I wonder if another team would give-up a early second round pick for Lopez as a project. There might be a player on the board early in the second round that might be of interest.

Just think... Griffin and Kerr will be making the Suns selections again and making trade decisions.

He just turned 21 it's too early to say never but one thing is for sure, he needs as much playing time as possible on a daily basis and a strong offseason adding some muscle.

Unfortunately the Suns can't afford to give him the needed playing time as long as they don't want to rebuild.

He could get better, but his style is kinda unusual. For white centers, he is not nasty like Przybila, Foster, hustle like Amundson, or rebounding/scoring like Biedrins or Miller. It's a puzzle to me what kind of a mature NBA player he might become if he did make that far.

He is a nerd stuck in a 7 foot athlete's body. It's not a secret. Just like half of us go to work and dont enjoy it 100%, he would be much happier being a comic buy salesman who chats about rare editions in between Magic and D&D tournaments. But that doesn't pay 2+ million a year.

Has Robin improved at all this year? Playing Shaq in practice and having Bill Cartwright to help him all season, has he looked like he is going to be something. I don't see it. I have to agree with the thread title. Dragic looks much better than he did at the beginning however. He has shown improvement. Oh well Kerr is 1 out of 2 for drafting. Not bad.

Robin do something about your hair. You look like a goof, squat on defense like a goof, the refs are going to think you are a goof and just call you for anything. Think about it. What hair style is that. It looks ********, like you are going for some weird cross between "Buckwheat /Samurai, but I don't give a sheet" look. WTF dude. It is worse than what Bill Walton was growing in the 70's. Lose a bet or something and get that nest trimmed.
Maybe if you incorporated a Fu Manchu mustache and beard it might look intimidating, plus you should have to been hitting the weight room too. Right now you look like hell. JMO no offense, just being honest.:stick:
