Exactly! However, with a 2 strike count, you have to swing if it's close, and it was close.

Nonetheless..... we shouldn't have even had to bat in the 9th. Rodney needs to come up with a sore finger and be sent down for "rehab."

That's 2 games in which Bradley pitches into the 8th, throwing good and is pulled for Rodney. In both instances we lose. I know Rodney is the closer but Bradley was throwing strong, should have left him in for the ninth...

Two wild pitches by our closer in the 9th. That, right there, says it all. And his reputation BD (before D-backs) of putting tying and winning runs on base, then trying to be a hero pitching his way out of it. Well, we are seeing the results of that.

If I were Lovello, I'd say to Archie, "I know you want to be in the starting rotation, but I'll make you a deal. Be our closer this season and, if you tell me you don't want to continue, I'll plan you in the starting rotation next season. No questions asked. So, what's your decision? One of five in the starting rotation or chance to become the best closer in baseball?"
