It's quiet. Too quiet.

This lack of action is bugging me.

Shouldn't Graves have delt with SOMETHING by now?

I hate to poke the Graves-hating bear....

...but no progress to report beside we will tag Dansby?

For that you got promoted and a fat raise?

It's not even super bowl Sunday for crying out loud.

What difference does it make anyway? Graves could feed the nations hungry, bring peace in the middle east, personally disarm South Korea, cure Cancer, build a generator the size of a pea that could heat Buffalo for a year, lower gas prices to $.01 a gallon, get the Israelites and the Palestinians to release a Christmas album together, and then take the field as a Quarter Back and single handedly lead the Cardinals to 10 straight Super Bowls, and people would still blame him for anything they didn't like.

It's just baffling that we're hearing this already. Contracts don't get done overnight, chill.

Sorry, hate to wait.

At least cut Holt. That Cancer thing would be nice too.

I bet our enemy in North Korea would love that! :D

If I'm not mistaken, signing bonuses are due when the contract is signed and have to be paid all at once. No sense in letting go of millions of dollars before you absolutely have to. Even with interest rates and other investments being what they are.

Holt has a fairly large roster bonus due to be paid sometime between today and the start of free agency

Agents started putting them into deals to force teams hands prior to free agency --- i.e. to guard against being on the roster all through free agency when teams have money to spend, and then getting cut in early June and having to go find a roster spot somewhere.

I would settle for him just becoming a competent GM.

Okay, these are a few simple question about what Rod Graves said and did in last year's offseason. I would like to know what the board recalls about Rod Graves' plan.

Last year, during the offseason, what was Rod Graves' reasoning for using up the cap space as opposed to defering some of the cap hits to this offseason?

Did Rod Graves talk about last year's free agent crop as being weak?

Did Rod Graves say he planned on saving money for this year's offseason?

Thanks guys. I have zero inclination to look up information I already know, and I have somebody who now claims Rod Graves never, ever said last year that they would save money for this year.

C'mon Stout. At least get it right. You said Graves stated he was handling the cap the way he did because he wanted to have a lot of cap space left for this year. I said I don't recall him ever saying anything to that effect and I don't.

Isn't that our argument?

Rod Graves has said that he didn't spend money last year in FA because it was a poor FA crop, and he would rather save money for this offseason. Do you deny it?

Stout, relax. You're getting too excited about something that amounts to a hill of beans.

Even though I disagree with you, this is more of a chain yanking project than a knock down drag out fight.

C'mon buddy. We're both Cardinals fans. If we're gonna fight, let's beat up on a Dallas fan.:D

I'd rather not fight, but you won't admit reality, bro. We were supposed to be using up cap space next year so we had cap space this year. Now Graves is in danger of failing to deliver. I marvel that you can't admit that.

Yes Graves stated that last years FA's were weak and wanted to have $$ for this year.

He messed up big time. He had his head up his ass when he did Fitzgerald's contract and now going into free agency the team is handcuffed.

way to go you idiot.

Used to love Graves with his, 'we'd rather take our medicine now.' mentality...those are his words...we'll we're puking up your screw up medicine this time. You hosed us fans and the team with this contract. Fitz isn't making it any better. The team should be calling him to get this done or we'll get NO ONE in FA + lose Pace.

Next years schedule is tougher than last years...we'll have no hope if they don't improve via FA.

It wasnt a bad contract. It is a standard incentive laden top 5 pick rookie deal. The problem lays with the letting it get to year 5 without a new deal in place so far with 4 days and counting.

And Graves did say some form of Keep the powder dry for next year comment.

So did Graves say something about keeping the powder dry in the context we are talking about? I would have to believe it is in print somewhere, but funny how no one seems to be able to find it and on this board because if it's available, I'll guarantee you someone will find it.

Thats gotta be the dumbest thing I have ever read. Because two guys pout and bark at each other about something that was said over a year ago.........that makes them passionate?

Arguing in the above manner is not passionate.....its juvenile. geez
