If we're 5-3 at the turn, i'll start to get real excited. But this is good so far.

The off-season was bad, though not a disaster. Any time you have only 3 roster players and a guy who plays a desperate need position, but only made the practice squad, that’s a bad draft. I had predicted last summer that the Cards would take Brown with their first pick. It wasn’t Graves’ genius, but a critical need that inspired the pick. He’s played okay, but shouldn’t a high first round pick do that?

No one knows yet how effective Branch will be. Breaston had an excellent return, but it’s still one play. He has been of no value as a receiver so far.
Free agency was a limited success that could have done much more.

If you want to make a case for Graves, I would focus on the coaching staff. It looks to be a masterpiece.

As for the 2-2 record, I’ll take it. The early part of the schedule was the toughest and the Cards have had a chance to win every game. Let’s see if they can figure out how to deliver a knockout punch before getting too excited though. I think they have made excellent progress. These coaches can teach and that is huge. Antonio Smith is a great example. Hopefully even more players will blossom.

40, I know you AND ME are ecsatic about being 2-2, but don't fool yourself, to the rest of the NFL, that really ain't that great of an accomlplishment.

but yeah, I bet there would be a lot of complainers after we went to the Super Bowl... I really don't understand how some of you people think sometimes.

Face it Cheese. Some people are just born to complain.

When I got home from the game (around 6 or so), there were already some threads on here worrying about where we where going to play Rolle and talking about getting help on the Oline, CB's, etc.

I guess I'm just spitting in the wind expecting the euphoria over one of the biggest Cardinal wins in a decade to last more than 2 hours.

What he said!!!

Also Adrian Peterson would've looked awesome in Cardinal Red. Now that we know what a great OL coach and teacher Grimm is we could've taken AP and picked up an OT in the 2nd and be sittin' in the catbird seat. Ahhhh that ol' hindsight is always 20/20 ain't it?;)

I'm lovin' this 2-2 though. Been a long time comin'.

There was such overjoyed emotion on this board yesterday that to complain about a couple threads talking about how we can continue to improve just makes you guilty of the same exact thing you're railing against - complaining just to complain.

try to follow here...

In saying some people will always complain no matter what happens, you, yourself, are complaining about people who complain no matter what happens, thus, being part of the problem you're complaining about! Now stop complaining.

Complaining.

So tell me. How can you talk about complainers and state true facts that they are complaining even when things go good, if you don't state that in fact the complainers are complaining after a big win even though there is nothing to complain about, if you are going to be complained to that you are complaining about the complainers. See MY point?

I don't think it's so much what they're teaching - I mean, it's the same DC and the schemes don't seem that much different. It's the fact they are holding these same players accountable and demanding more from them. Best thing Rod Graves ever did was let Leonard Davis walk.

Complaining.

For those familiar with the British comedies (Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister) this sounds like something that Sir Humphrey would say. :D

That show should be required viewing before posting in the P&R forum.

Translates perfectly to US politics

40 you don't understand Mr Bean is IMO moronic, worse than Benny Hill.

Blackadder is very different and very good but little beats out Yes [Prime] Minister

Other good ones include
  • To the Manor Born
  • Young Ones
  • Fawlty Towers [of course]
  • Last of the Summer Wine [on PBS now, a little odd but it grows on you]
  • Waiting for God [on PBS now]
  • Only Fools and Horses
Will probably think of some more

Mr. Bean reminds me somewhat of Peter Sellers, a comedic genius, and Benny Hill was a true pioneer in the comedy world. If you think about comedy, aren't the most successful comedians the one who self depracate themselves?

blasphemy, burn the heretic. Not to metion you are comparing the a character to and actor. If you said Rowan Atkinson is very good I agree, Mr Bean is IMO moronic.

Benny Hill was funny when I first saw him 40 years ago at least for a few mins
but I was 10 at the time

We're four games into the season and 2-2. There's a lot of room for hope, but Rod Graves ain't off the hook until this team goes to the playoffs which is still three months away. I could see this squad just as easily crapping the bed as I could see it run off eight of the next twelve.

I think that few people expect the Cards to make the playoffs this year. I would have been happy with 8-8 with a rookie (almost) QB and new coaches. I now can hope for a 9-7 being the optimist that I am.
