How many days until KC signs him? I'm guessing he's a Chief by Friday.

When I read he was cut the first thing I thought was "How long until the Chiefs sign him?". I'll be a bit more conservative and say Saturday.

I'm probably in the minority, but I always thought he'd be a fantastic Tampa-2 CB.
Like all Cardinals, he seems to have trouble wrapping up, but he doesn't seem to fear rush support.

I liked Hood, most of the time he looked like a great #2 CB. But about once a game he'd get so lost his man would get 15 yards behind him. I never understood why he got beat deep so many times. I'm assuming he was thinking he had safety help over top, but who knows, he got beat deep a lot.

I've posted this before but it seems that it would be good time to post it again.

Hood got beat bad in the Viking game by Bobby Wade. I heard Wade interviewed a couple days after the game and he was asked about that specific play.

He said that after watching film of Hood they observed that he could be beat by a double move because he almost always bit hard on the first move. They had noticed this happened often.

I'm sure the Vikings weren't the only team that saw the same thing. Hood was very good at staying with receivers if the receiver only made that one cut. Those double moves are why we often found Hood standing in the middle of the field without anyone around him while the receiver ran wide open 15 yards down field.

That being said at least Hood could stay with the receiver most of the time. We've had much worse CBs out there.

I thought Hood was pretty good. He did get beat at times but all CB's do. Even when he got beat deep it seemed he was there to at least contest it.

I think if we are trying to improve our D, why wouldnt you want a Hood as your nickle guy? 3 mill a year is nothing when your talking about trying to win a SB.

Hood was pretty good when he kept the receiver between him and the sideline. He had a very good first year doing this, but was beat by several very good throws last season. As mentioned, he was susceptible to double moves, and didn't have the wheels to cover effectively in the open field.

This strikes me as both a personnel decision made by Whis in concert with the D-coordinator and D-back coach, and a cap decision.

It would have been nice to keep him, but he'd be a $3M $$$ luxury, that, evidently, the team could not afford given other priorities.

There are several experienced cornerbacks on the market right now, and they could be in the team's "cheaper" plans after they've assessed the present contingent.

I could probably make an arguement that Hood is more important than Q. :(

First make the argument why you think Hood is worth $5.5 million this year.

Why is Bryant McFadden who has never started more than 9 games in a season in his NFL career worth $5 million a year and Rod Hood who has started 30 games in two years in the AZ not worth $5.5million?

I know the answer! Because the Cardinals think so. Wanted to save you the typing. :D

Well put! May come back to haunt them if Toler isn't great from the start. :bang:

I'm betting they will move Antrel Rolle to corner when are playing nickel (he played well there two years ago) and have Rashad Johnson play FS in nickel/dime packages with Brown/Toler fighting for the dime corner slot. Johnson is a smart player and I think he will be ready to step in and play from the get go after training camp and preseason. He is a ball hawk, love the pick and I can't wait to see him on the field.

I agree completely. When Whiz first got here he was talking about filling spots in free agency and the draft and he said it's not so much about the player but more importantly about what the position needs. Yes, Hood is more than capable of playing nickel but there are other experienced corners out there that can do it too, for half the price. I would not be surprised at all if we signed an experienced FA corner before training camp.
