It's Entertainment Weekly, but they are claiming that all the above red flags are actually false:

http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/03/rogue-one-reshoots

Fears that the heavy-duty war movie is being watered down into a lighthearted caper are unfounded, according to what EW has learned. “The movie is very different than [The Force Awakens], and that’s intentional,” one source says. “It’s a war film.”

Rumors that Disney executives have forced the changes to make the movie more family friendly are also false. According to EW’s sources, there have been no test screenings, and it’s unlikely there ever will be on a Star Wars film.

Except....I know a couple people who have attended test screenings for Star Wars films.

It might be a matter of semantics--EW might be referring to PRESS screenings, not "Test" screenings.

Do you know which films your friends attended (and when)?

TFA for one of them. The other was test screenings for 2 of the 3 prequels. I don't have the exact details of when exactly but you are right. Probably not press screenings. Although I didn't get the impression the original story was referring to test screenings for press anyway. Sounded more like Disney folks and some fans.

Yeah, if you google TFA and test screenings, you'll see plenty of articles saying there are no press/test screenings, so who knows for sure?

No press screenings doesn't surprise me. It seems as of late keeping the press in the dark until the last minute seems to be getting more popular.

Well, I'll play devils advocate here...

Since this sounds like a high up test screening and since it has the war tone, maybe the execs were concerned it might have bordered on an R rating. Just a guess.

Sure we might prefer that as fans, but lets be honest here; Star Wars cinema has always been aimed for families. It's hard to expand the brand with an R rating.

4 weeks of reshoots aren't usually necessary to drop a movie from an R to a PG-13. A good editor can take care of that on their own.

just speaking from experience, if they're really going in for 4 weeks of reshoots, that's a pretty big amount of story to be screwed with guys.

Next Week during a Star Wars special on ABC called Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey, Lucasfilm will premiere a brand new three minute trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! We knew a new trailer would be coming soon becauseStar Wars Celebration in London is scheduled to take place next week from July 15th to the 17th, and I imagine the trailer will be released online shortly before it will premiere on ABC, which is set for July 15th at 8 PM EST time.
WOOF!

I love this poster, even though it makes no sense if taken literally.

Wow, that looks fantastic! And not one shot of Vader (that I could see).

That looks incredible. Although I didn't expect to see one second of Vader. They are going to save that grand entrance for the movie I bet.

I think we'll see quick shot of Vader, 5sec or less, at some point closer to the movie. Maybe in Oct or Nov just to amp up the hype machine.

Let's see if it's tonight. A new trailer is supposed to debut after Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey tonight on ABC.

#BiggestTeaseEver

although the celebration trailer did leak and it's just a reflection of Vader standing over a control panel with his breathing.

In a van...down by the river.
G.Edwards knows what he's doing. I was in the minority when it came to his Godzilla. He nailed it for the most part IMO. I like his style.

I think this film will be pretty damn good.

I am glad they didn't go the "Top Gun in space" theme a lot of people were speculating when they announced the name--people immediately associated it with Rogue Squadron and x-wing battles.

This seems to me more along the lines of a Star Wars "Dirty Dozen", a team of misfits or anti-heroes out to accomplish something for the greater good. I think it will be interesting to see what brings them together.
