There was very real talk of him being drafted as high as 8th. Then someone reiterated that he had one kidney and fell to us as 16.

He dropped because somebody scared other teams about his potential health problems. Its a dirty tactic to get someone to fall but it happens

Before news of his kidney (or lack thereof) was brought out he was the consensus #2 CB in the draft. He was then the 2nd CB drafted. There is no fall IMO.

Can you show me the article that says Jacksonville considered him at 8?

Or are you just talking about one person's mock draft?

I can't find an article but I remember that there were some strong rumors that he was rising up draft boards so much that he could go as high as 7 to NE or 8 to Jacksonville (he had personal meetings with both teams shortly before the draft). Then it was reiterated that he had one kidney and those rumors seem to die down quite a bit.

Some people on this board thought it was likely our own guys let out that information to make sure he was available to us. Somebody thats good at using the search feature I'm sure can find it.

My point is still that there is paralysis by analysis in the draft and sometimes good players fall for what ultimately prove to be no real reason. This could be one of those occassions.

A number of NHL players have had Crohn's, like Shayne Corson, Theo Fleury, and Kevin Dineen. All had productive careers.

I really see this as a ploy move to make him drop more than anything. My guess is around draft time the talk about him having Crohns will start really being talked about and really could hurt his stock draft day. I think he'll be the best ILB in the draft but I could still see him falling in the draft.

And for every argument there is an opposing argument. Beanie Wells was labeled as "injury prone" having only missed 3 games in 3 years. He dropped to 31. This disease could completly cut his career short at any given time. To say he won't drop (or even to say he will) is just heresay until we actually see what teams do.

I'll say this though. If I was picking at 15, his disease is something I really think about before I pull the trigger and draft him. At 26, he is worth the risk (much like Beanie was at 31).

Thanks for pointing this out.

If the guy is on a proper diet this is quite manageable.

If you were picking at #15 your medical staff would in all probability tell you that this a manageable disease, and that many professional athletes have had productive careers despite the affliction.

Of greater concern is that he has excessively sweaty feet that Doctors believe could lead to trench foot. (pass it on).

Because of the medical HE WILL BE AVAILABLE at 26. This is a serious matter that the teams medical staff is going to be on the hook for if they give the green light. Medical staff's do not want to take the responsibility if it doesn't work out...hence they get fired. They'll all say 'he's a risk.' he'll prob. go in the 2nd.

He will not go in the 2nd round. We are talking about the best LB in the draft and with so many teams in need of a LB , the guy has never missed a game due to his condition. He will be gone by 26.

That we are hearing about this now, does not mean for a moment that his condition has not been widely known among the NFL scouting fraternity.

And, if hockey players, and there have been several, can have long careers while managing this disease, you can bet that there is NOT A CHANCE IN HELL that he'll be available at #26.
