Young doesn't really have that impressive of stats though...not ROY-esque. Neither is Matt's performance to date.

Addai has a good line with 7 TDs and will finish with over 1K yards (at nearly 5 yards per carry).

Jones-Drew has a fantastic line.

Reggie is coming on.

Colston was on fire until he got hurt, but it's clear that it's as much Brees as it is Colston...

Hester is just at another level, at a VERY difficult position. There's a reason that nobody had scored more than 5 KO/PR TDs in a season.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt that just a rookie record? Didnt Dante Hall have more one year? No way he has as much impact on games as the guys I listed.

Those stats don't show combined TDs - I'm still looking for that...

Hester has returned two kickoffs, three punts and one field goal attempt for touchdowns.

I love Wikipedia. Hester's page is already updated...and it gives us the answer we've been looking for - which player's record Hester broke...

Hester was awarded the kickoff returner spot on the depth chart the week of the Monday Night Football game against the St. Louis Rams on December 11, 2006, and returned a kick 94 yards for a touchdown in just his second return of the night, tying the NFL single season record for returns for a touchdown at five, set by Ken Houston in 1975. Later in the game, Hester returned another kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown, breaking the NFL record. Hester had now made three punt returns, two kickoff returns, and one missed field goal attempt return for touchdowns. This second touchdown return also made Hester the sixth man in NFL history to score a touchdown on two separate kickoff returns in the same game.

As I posted in the other ROY thread.

Chargers LT Marcus McNeil is and has been the the best rookie this season.

Defensive rookie of the year should go to LB Ryans from the Texans.

Don't they have three awards? Defensive Rookie, Offensive Rookie, and Rookie of the Year? I remember Anquan won OROY, but didn't win ROY (which I think the fans vote on?).

I'd say DROY is DeMeco Ryans, OROY is Maruice Jones Drew (but Bach is right that McNeill is more deserving), and ROY ought to be Hester.

What a great rookie class this was. Couldn't we have had McNeill instead of Lutui? I like Lutui, and think he'll be a great player, but McNeill has been awesome...

Time will tell.

It's gotta be VY. Any other name is silly.

As good as he had done, he barely cracks the top5 IMO.

Drew, Colston, Bush, McNeil, Hester are all more deserving than Young at this point. Hell, I don't even know if VY should be above Leinart.

What are you basing your criteria off of?? Nobody has done more for their team than Young. The Titans were supposed to be absolutely terrible.....he literally has them on his shoulders, winning games down the stretch.

I am basing my criteria on a number of things. VY is not the only player winning games for their team. Hester has won at least a couple of games for his team with his returns, and a couple is being generous. Drew's 9 TD's and over 5 YPC is amazing for a rookie. Colston had a chance to shatter Boldin's rookie record stats. (and Boldin had one of the best rookie years of any player the past 10 years) Bush is really starting making his presence known and is making plays all over the field. Eventhough Leinart is not winning games for the Cards at the last second, (he did have two game winning drives come short due to Rackers) and has also played tremendously well for a rookie. McNeil for the Chargers has probably been the best lineman on LT's MVP/TD shattering year. Addai should better Edge's year in yards, and almost has double the TD's.

Let's not say that any other name buy VY is silly. There are plenty of people just as, if not more deserving than Young.

Hester has had an insane season. What the heck were the Bears thinking, "He can't return ALL of them for touchdowns"? Oops.

Starting at the 35 looks pretty good to me. :)

i like colston because he doing awesome and he was the second to last person picked in the entire draft. it was unfortuante that he has been injuried lately.

Vince Young should win the award. Bush and Colston have too many other weapons around them, and Hester has done some great things. Young has taken his team on his back and made them competitive when no-one thought they would be.

This is a great rookie class, and I'm still glad we have Leinart.

I have to agree, as much as I dislike what I will have to listen to from VY Hero-worshippers.

What would be a more compelling scenerio would be a young kid who breaks his arm only to discover after the healing process he can now throw over 100 mph. Pure cinema gold!!!

Matt isn't putting up the heroics you need to be rookie of the year, but - in terms of what he will mean to our franchise compared to what the other guys will mean to theirs - I wouldn't trade him for any of those guys.

Yeah, like having super hot movie stars attending Cardinal games.

Let's see Vince Young or Jay Cutler do that.
