The bottom line guys is this. You are going to do what ever it takes to make millions. That is the oportunity that is being presented to Drew & Q. If the same opportunity was being presented to me, I would do whatever it takes to get the deal done.

Yes, I would enjoy the drama if the Cardinals would say under the current circumstances they expect Q to play out his contract for all three years. Unfortunately the Cardinals do not have time to play games with the season opener on the doorstep. I say leave the Q situation simmer unless a hot deal comes along.

Either we re-sign him now, or we reassess the situation next offseason. Dealing with his trade demands and constant bickering by Rosenhaus now will hurt the team

When will the NFL learn that it would be cheaper to put a contract out on Rosenhaus than negotiating contracts for all of his clients.

OOPS!

Maybe I should've kept that to myself.

True, but his contract has already been restructured. He seemed happy with it just a short time ago. I still think this has everything to do with Fitz's new contract and, with Rosenhaus as Q's agent, I don't see how people could see otherwise.

It's tough for teams to carry two premier WRs. And now we see first-hand why that is.

I won't tell anybody. :)

I think the Cards should paint Rosenhaus into a corner and out him in the media. Praise the hell out of Q, say we know he's trying to do the right thing and all, but his agent is out of control. Make it about Drew and not Q. With the recent pings against his reputation, we'll see what a major frontal assault would do to him. He won't be able to play the 'cheap old Cards' trick any more, because we've proven we're no longer that kind of a team. I say hang him out there to dry.

Based on the levity of this post I've come to the conclusion that if you have Shark in your name you know your shizzle (that's a shout out to JTS, the best poster on the board). I'm seriously considering changing my name to RedShark...I wonder if that's taken:shrug:

What has changed?

(Other than a good reporter in Kent Somers doing his job and following up the Burress contract by contacting Drew Rosenhaus.)

What would you expect D.R. to say? Oh, everything is wonderful now, Q has changed his mind, let's talk?

When the Cardinals are prepared to negotiate an extension, Drew and Q will either relent and listen or play out the last two years of the existing contract. I fully expect the former. I don't expect the Bidwills to set a bad precedent IMO and cave in on the trade "demand." If, as expected, Q has another pro-bowl year, I do expect they'll offer a much better extension than was on the table last winter.

A new deal for Boldin will never happen and he will be traded next offseason without a doubt in my mind.

I agree with you Joe. Boldin is a warrior on the field but history has shown us most championship teams require only one big time receiver. I dont want the Cardinals to tie too much money in the receiver position.

And that's the rub of the whole situation. The only leverage Q can exert is to voice his complaints and try to sabotage the team; Rosenhaus invented it (or mastered it), his players get paid more because of it, in the end the NFL as a whole is worse off. The problem is until the relationship between teams and players changes this tactic is only going to become more common place.

No way I trade a player because they request it. I have had as much of a man-crush on Boldin as anyone and want the Cardinals to do right by him and themselves. They have to think of themselves a slight bit first though. You have a top player under a reasonable contract. Would I be willing to restructure, extend, etc? Yup. Would I cave to media pressure put on by the biggest horses behind in pro sports (Drew), no. Even if it gets to the point where Boldin holds out or stops playing, I don't trade him. Thats a tactic which would ruin his value in the market anyway AND his contract isn't so unreasonable that you couldn't afford to bench it. Don't give into terrorist type tactics.

I'm hoping the Cardinals can string some wins and restructure Boldin in the future, but the rush to do that wasn't now. Dansby has to come next, sorry Q.

Easier said than done when us as fans spend our hard earned money in a crap economy only wanting wins.. Then some dude is playing us against the ones we love and pay to see for mega millions.. This has blown up in Drews face.. I love the Cards stance on this.. I love Q too, but if he's gonna be an cornholio about it, then oh well, bye bye man.. He aint like me no matter how much he talks about hard work or down home values he has while real folks are out here struggling while he's pushing a Caddy that the dealership gave him and he dont pay one cent on..

Powerful post Gee!

Same here... it does not make sense to trade him now but we should get rid of him next off season.

Why should we trade him next year? If he plays well, keep him or negotiate a new deal. If he doesn't play well, bench his ass. He loses.

because you can't have a cancer in the locker-room and IMO, you can't pay him what he wants. Deal him for value, make sure you sign Dansby, hope Hightower turns out to be a stud or go get a speed RB who can actually play and give you the dynamic on offense that you really need.

Boldin is IMO a victim of a simple choice and simple mathematics, we chose Fitz over him as a priority and we were always going to have to choose one to be the star and the other wasn't going to accept it.

Now this year he seems to be willing to play, his agent will badger us constantly but that's nothing to worry about if Boldin himself is willing to play it's a non-issue.

By next year that will most likely cease to be the case.

I was wrong about trading him this year, Boldin is still pretty classy or has turned out to be. I don't think it's fair to him to expect that again next year.

No, Boldin is a victim of his agent encouraging him to make a bad choice.

2 years ago, the Cardinals offered him an extension locking him up for 5 years. He and his agent chose to take that deal.

If he was dedicated to the big bucks, he needed to play out his rookie deal.. but he wanted the money, wanted to play in AZ or wanted the security a couple years ago and took the extension. Thats an agent mistake, if indeed the money he is making now is the issue.

From the football side of things, he's played nearly the exact same since the extension as before and he's shown a similar aptitude for staying healthy. Overall, if it was a fair extension then, it is still a fair extension. IMO

Your exactely right, this IS about Fitz' new deal that was restructured with two years left on the deal because it benefited the FO (salary cap) to do so.

However Boldin's restructure with 3 years left will not benefit the FO in any way shape or form. They suposedly made him some verbal promises that a restructure would occur. He took them at their word. After the Fitz deal they made some half hearted offers that did not increase his bonus or up his present salary at all. Thus we have the situation we have.

Maybe we have two faults here. Boldin shouldn't have expected a rework after allready having reworked his deal two years ago and the FO shouldn't have made the commitment to get his deal redone again and then not make more than a token offer.

Boldin did redo his contract. Boldin saw his value rise when Fitzgerald redone his contract. Now he is worth at least 5-6 million more a season. That is why he is doing what he is doing.

Cheese, I don't necessarily think Boldin will become a cancer, unless he gets as stupid as T.O. in Philly, which I don't see happening. He's not threatening a holdout and has already stated several times he will play out his contract. He has no leverage to force a trade, and anything he does to try that will just hurt his position. So it just becomes an issue of if we can get an extension done.

Anyway, we could argue this non-stop til something actually happens, so I'll let it rest here.
