ok...but what if you change MHJ with Nabers?

Nabers won't last until the 20s
I feel like any scenario that starts with MHJ is preferable to 95%? of this board. The real question is what to do if he is gone.
Trade down to 7 or 8 range. Draft a tackle, or Odunze and use the additional 2nd and 3rd (let's say) to possibly move up and get 3 first round picks.

If you absolutely have to have one of the tackles, trade down one or two spots to get those QB picks and get the OT you want.

Otherwise if you're going the WR route, trade down as far as you can while still ensuring you get one of your top targets.

I also wonder whether or not we'll pursue trades to acquire talent. It was pretty much the only thing Monti's predecessor did well!

The real question is what to do if he is gone.

If he is gone that means one of the QBs fell and the Cards should seriously consider loading up on picks assuming there are Trade partners. If the trade doesn't knock your socks of you stay put and take the top guy on your draft board.

I don't think he will either, but nobody had CeeDee going 17.

There usually one player that drops per draft. I would see Brock falling further than Nabers would expect to if anything.

It's a dilemma if Monti thinks Alt is the next Jonathon Ogden.

We are very confident MHJ is special.

If Alt is "generational" - it's tough.

If not, you take MHJ.

Free agency will add clarity to the path we may be headed down.
If we move PJJ to the left side and sign a RT I see MHJ , defense, defense.
If instead we sign a DT then I see MHJ, OT and defense.
Exactly - almost no point speculating which path makes more sense in the draft until we see what happens in FA.

A good FA RT would change everything!

Yeah, getting to the Super Bowl largely on the back of the Burrow/Chase combo was totally not worth the choice lol

C'mon man, this is a bad take. Taking Chase has clearly worked out well for them and it's highly arguable they would have gotten anywhere near as far as they did without him.
I'd rather have St. Brown and Sewell than Chase and trash at OT.

lol Do better.

We're talking top picks, not later round players that a team found. Nothing saying Cinci drafts St. Brown Later. Also, Cinci could have taken a decent OT with a later pick but didn't.

Keep up, please.

The above pretty much sums up the Cardinals' draft position. While I have no idea how good the QB's in this year's class are, I'm pretty sure that NE will pick one. They are starting over and learned that they can't get by with a mediocre QB. They need to give their fans hope. If Monti really wants an OT, he's probably hoping NE takes MHJ, which will take a lot of pressure off him. Unfortunately, I doubt it will happen, so with the fourth pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select ............

Well I did the hard part, now all Monti has to do is take a coin and flip it.

If Alt is generational and MHJ falls to 4… why not go after both? If that special and we truly are a contender for the playoffs, the Texans pick this year and back half of the 1st round pick next year is a no brainer to obtain Alt.

I'm fairly confident Monti won't trade up to get MHJ, and I'm fairly confident he won't trade out if MHJ is on the board. I've been clear that MHJ is who I want with our pick. If he's off the board, I have no idea which way I want us to go, which is unusual for me.

If MHJ is gone I really think we will trade out but I pray not to far.
After watching some highlights of players Nabers has really got me wondering if he could be a little better than Odunze.

LOL.

I think you are the one who needs to keep up.

You're not finding Sewell on day three, but St. Brown is a fantastic receiver who just made an All Pro team. He was drafted in the same draft as Chase.

This is why you take OTs high, because you ain't finding an All Pro LT in later rounds, but routinely, WRs are found later.

The Texans gave up a first round pick in 2024, second round pick in 2023, and third round pick in 2024 to move up 10 spots. We swapped first rounders (#2 for #12) and gave them back a fourth.

Moving up 20+ spots is most likely going to cost more (if you can find someone who wants to do it).

It would be more like moving up 12-14 spots to get Fashanu or Alt. Big difference than 20+ spots. I’m think a move to the 8th pick from ~21 would doit.

Gotcha. That would be amazing to get both.

I just don't see Alt and Olu falling that far.

I figure this at minimum; 3 QBs, 2 WR, 1 of Alt/Fashanu… that’s 6 right there. All you’d need is 1 other player to sneak in the top 8 for Fashanu to likely be the one available at 8.

My bad - (20 spots) I was looking at the other Texans pick (from Cleveland) #27.

Scary thought - what if Texans beat Browns today?

The Texans pick that we got will be worse than the Cleveland/Texans pick.

Wow!
