We will see when we get to training camp and when the hitting starts. That being said, I hope one of these guys steps up. To me, Massie would be the ideal candidate as he has the most physical talent which is important in our division.

+1

I am rooting from Bradley Sowell, but I could care less whom is playing RT, and whom is backing up RT as long as they are the two best options at the position.

Nice to talk about whom to cut then whom to sign, tho.

Well...I don't imagine any of these guys are going to be Pro Bowlers, but if we can get similar production with our current crop as we got from Winston last year, I think it is a win.

IMO if massie has the mental side down, he wins. He is the best physically. His only downfall was missed assignments.

2000 - 2004: Anthony Clement
2005 - 2006: Oliver Ross/Ian Allen/Dante Ellington/Elton Brown
2007 - 2008: Levi Brown
2009 - 2011: Jeremy Bridges/Brandon Keith
2012: Bobby Massie
2013: Eric Winston

My opinions are relative to the situation this team has put me in, LOL!

That was Brown's good year too :(

I notice a correlation between coaching and longevity - who was the line coach during Clement's run?

lol. I am the exact opposite. I hope it's Massie. I thought he played very well at the end of 2012. If we get that kind of play from him now, I'm quite happy with our line. Even with a ? for RG. That's still unbelievably improved over last year

I'll agree with this. Massie has shown he can play the RT position rather well and so it makes sense he steps up and takes the starters position this year. Plus Sowell being the #1 back up at both OT positions is the best option.

I think Massie will win. I also think many will be surprised at just how well he will do this year.

I know Paul Fanaika gets blasts on the "fancy stats" sites, but he was our RG last year and the team won 10 games.

So, at worst the Cardinals are going to improve on that talent.

I hope Massie gets his shot this year. He played well in his rookie season. RG is a perfect position for him. I also thought Potter had some real good games in his rookie season. They are young and would be with us for a long time.

I didn't think he was that bad. He was an upgrade over Snyder :barf:

I do agree that we can only get better at the position. Which is nice... and pathetic... lol. We had the 32nd ranked line last year and won 10 games. Our line is already hugely improved. But I hope very much that we improve over Fanaika there. Whether it be Watford, someone on waivers, we somehow bring back Colledge, whatever. I think we can still upgrade there pretty easily

Massie is headed for the same '???' File Folder as Housler. We keep waiting for it to click and for the player to finally seize the position and perform. Have to believe that the Cards let Winston and Colledge walk because they feel players like Massie and Watford are the better answers. Last year, they dropped LBrown---the 32nd ranked LT and replaced him with another 32nd rank LT. Hope we don't see a repeat of that outcome.

Colledge was way overpaid for his performance. If he had been receiving an 'average' pay he might still be on the roster based on his average play.

From ProFootball Focus:

1. Daryn Colledge, Left Guard
Every year we see teams overpay for free agents from a Super Bowl winner, and such was the case when the Cardinals gave a sizable contract to Colledge in 2011 a few months after he won a championship with the Packers. The veteran left guard is capable of a good stretch of games here and there but hasn’t put together a solid season in years. His 96.1 Pass Blocking Efficiency and -1.4 overall grade were average numbers, and his run blocking was particularly shaky. As part of an offensive line that we ranked as the worst in the league for the second straight season, Colledge hasn’t made enough of a difference to earn his hefty salary.
2013 Cap Hit: $7.3m
2013 Performance Based Value: $1.3m
Value Differential: -$6.0m

As far as I could tell, Colledge is still unsigned even after making the FA rounds with several teams. Ditto Winston. Guess being on the worst ranked OL is not much of a resume builder.

agreed. Colledge WAS overpaid. I'm hoping now that he's been unemployed for a bit, he'd be more willing to come back to move over to RG on this much improved line. Do a 1-year "prove it" deal like Dansby and Cromartie that he can use next season on his resume. I guarantee he'll be better regarded after a season with our '14 guys than our '13 guys

Keep getting hints that Massie has all the physical skills, but very little between the ears, which holds him back. I don't know if that is fair or not, but that is the impression I've formed based on media coverage over the last few years.

Most of this info this year has been that he is getting it now.

Hes a beast so if he has figured the system out, good things will come.

I hope so. Love what I've seen from him in games so far. Love the pick. But the fact that he couldn't get on the field last year as a T and the fact that he is fighting off competition this off season makes me wonder.

Don't forget Leonard Davis played RT when Clement was dealing with a back injury. But the line was actually half way decent that season.

Massie has been a slow learner. He showed us that when he was a rookie, it took him until the end of the season to get it, but he got it. BA is more of a perfectionist. When he saw Massie wasn't playing to near his ability, but after a year with all our coaches, I'd bet they got him on the right page finally
