Ken Rosenthall is reporting that the Diamondbacks would not explore the option of re-signing Teixeria, and instead would opt for the two draft picks.

Seems like a great way to keep the payroll low and retool at the same time.

I think you are exaggerating to prove a point, but in case your not - Johan Santana doesn't even earn $17M this year - Brandon Webb isn't that good. I think the going rate for a #1 that is in Cy Young contention is about $15M per. I sure hope the D-Backs keep him for the next 5 years.

How is Teixeira worth $20M per? I don't see it

I was serious, I thought MT turned down like 150 million and I was thinking Webb could get at least 20 from a big apple club. Let's see in a few years.
