Ryan Anderson would be a good fit for us if he can recover his form. He had a pretty serious injury.

Might be a move that could attract Lebron since he needs to be surrounded by capable shooters to maximize his efficiency.

My initial reaction is this is awful. I mean they must really think that Channing Frye is going to get a big offer because I would rather have Frye. I'd rather keep Channing Frye, and then we wouldn't have to give up Gerald green and a draft pick. And, the more I think about it the more awful I think this is.

I really hope this isn't going to happen. Oh God, and what's worse is the idea of reading BC and Ernknight griping about it for the next two years.

Somebody please tell me what I'm missing here.

Joe

This seems like a pretty bad trade, almost like a smaller and cheaper version of the Barbosa for Hedo trade a few years ago. I hope this isn't true, it seems lopsided in NO favor, I can't see including a pick with Green, also NO has plenty of people in their backcourt already with Gordon, Evans, Holiday, and Rivers.

This is also on RealGM's message board. On there they list the 27th pick being included.

Ryan Anderson is a 18/7 player over the last 3 years and only 25 years old.

Except for his rookie season he had a PER of at least 18 every season.

If our medical staff clears his back he is definitely better value than Green.

He is a younger, better shooting, better rebounding version of Frye.

Career offensive rating of 117(!!!) - 3 years of 120, 122 and 124.

Btw the rumor is Green and 27 for Ryan Anderson.

That is a steal for us even if we add 3M$ in salaries. It is very unfortunate for Gerald Green though, he will fail in New Orleans I am afraid - no way they will run the ball with Davis and Asik now I guess..

I hated Green when he came to phoenix. I thought he was gonna be Shannon Brown part 2, but that kid really impressed me and changed my mind. I would like to see another solid year from him before figuring out if the Suns should sign him to another contract, but I think he's earned his chance to show us what he can do for another year. He has that nastiness (non-douchebaggy) that the Suns have always lacked. I love Dragic, and he is the closest thing we have to "nasty" on the current roster (outside of Green), but Green just takes that to another level.

I will be disappointed if Green is traded for a Channing Frye 2.0 today.

If you look at it if the Suns keep Green:

1. He will block Goodwin's playing time at the 2.
2. If he has another year like that for us he is a FA next year and would cost at least 7-8M$ starting salary.

So yeah upgrading from Green to Anderson makes sense on a lot of levels for us as long as it costs only #27 that we are looking to deal anyway.

Ryan Anderson is age 26.

I like that he is a PF but does that translate that he is a better player than Frye around the basket. Also, Green has turned into a nice player for the Suns.

In all fairness, Anderson IS a better player than Frye. He is far more consistent, and can actually guard a chair in the low post. Probably can't guard a real player, but he can guard a chair, which Frye could not do. With his back injury, and mental issues from going through the crap he went through last year or the year before, I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole.

EDIT:
As far as Green goes, he should be able to play SF just fine. If we must keep Bledsoe, I wouldn't mind seeing what Bledsoe/ Dragic/ Green trio looks like together.

Green brought that edge and fire to this group of suns. Going to miss him if he goes somewhere else.

I do like the idea the Suns would upgrade the PF position, an area of need and they can go BPA with #14 and #18. Also I like that Anderson is signed to a reasonable contract for two more years.

They tried it last season and that trio did terrible when they were on the floor together.

I'm not sure I'd call $8.5M per year a reasonable contract for a soft power forward coming back from a serious back injury and dealing with a lot of emotional crap.

8.5M$ is a bargain for Anderson if there are no medical concerns.

There are only about 50 players in the entire NBA that can put up 19PER and play considerable minutes.
There are even less players in the NBA with offensive ratings around 120.

What about adjusted +/-, and per 36 minutes, lol? :)

My initial reaction is this is awful.

Yep. Another soft white guy, yay!

Oh God, and what's worse is the idea of reading BC and Ernknight griping about it for the next two years.

True, but at least in this case, they'd have a point.

My initial reaction was that we were going to play Frye and Anderson together as the 5/4.

How did you keep yourself from jumping out of a window at the horror of that possibility?

I really, really like Green but the SF / SG spot is going to be crammed (especially if they sign Deng) so I can understand this move.

Anderson fits very well with what the Suns do. I wouldn't hate it.

Was that a rumor?
