Don't know if this is legit or not but I'm almost positive that the ball has to completely clear the line entirely to be out of the endzone.

It's the same exact rule as a touchdown, in reverse, picture this if the ball going the other way would not be a touchdown then it's not a safety going the other way, anything that would be a touchdown going the other way would be a safety heading the opposite way.

Watching the play, I jumped up out of my couch streaming Safety. Watching the replay it looked like the ball was on right on the line when he was tackled.

I still think that it was a safety. I will have to watch the replay and find out exactly what the NFL rule is.

He got out. Simple as that--the ball was completely over the line (barely) when his knee went down.

SA did a really amazing job of not hitting the turf with his knees despite the tackle until he was clear.

I agree, but it was really really close. We are talking like an inch. Great effort by Alexander.

I know this is splitting hairs and I really don’t think it would have changed the outcome anyway.

I agree that he got the ball out but he barely got it out and the ball was horizontal to the end zone line. If they spotted the ball at the most forward progress and then turned the ball parallel to the end zone part of the ball would be in the end zone. I wonder if there is a rule that pertains to that. I can’t see how they could increase the placement of the ball if only by a few inches.
