I've reached the point where I want the city council to vote down the restoration and Sarver to move the team. They are NEVER going to get better under his ownership, so they might as well move the team and probably get an expansion team with an owner who actually is smart enough to spend money on basketball people who know what they're doing.

I agree. Whatever needs to happen to force the issue needs to be done. Sarver’s Suns have become a national joke. I can think of several pro sports teams under bad ownership that turned things around but all required a change in ownership.

He has earned the label of league whipping boy.

I won't change teams either, but then again, Sarver has beat the love of basketball almost completely out of me at this point.

I guess I still believe in Santa Claus and Jerry Colangelo before he sold the team.

Sarver is a disgusting person and it’s telling that nobody who has worked for him ever said it was a good experience.

By far the worst owner in major American sports.

I remember when Jerry Colangelo used all his clout to get the present arena approved. I don't see Sarver having this type of leverage.

I have nothing constructive to add to this other than now i completely hate this guy.

We do need to somehow revolt and make him sell or get the F out

If they let the Sonics leave they can surely let the Suns leave.
As I've said before, there were extenuating circumstances--namely an arena that was literally dangerous to do anything in at the time, which was NOT going to get more funding by the public.

We don't have that problem with this arena. Equating the situation we are in now with then just ferments paranoia.

I'm wondering if one of the Indian Reservations funding the arena be an option. Of course the team would be relocated there.

At the end of the day, if a team wants to move, they generally move. When was the last time a league blocked a move? MLS with the Columbus Crew sort of, but that league is single entity and they gave Austin an expansion team. Pretty much if American sports teams wanna go, they go.

And again, with approval from the leagues Governors. It would be a PR nightmare for the NBA if they voted to allow the team to move. I wouldn't see that as even a possibility until Jerry Colangelo passes away.

What kind of PR nightmare are you envisioning? I'm not sure it would make that big of a dent nationally. No one outside Phoenix gives a crap and from the looks of attendance, not many people give a crap inside the city care either, while at the same time everyone inside the city hates the owners guts with a passion.

Sarver would get roasted, but I'm not sure what the overall fallout would be for the league.

Except Jerry Colangelo is no longer affiliated with the Phoenix Suns. If anything, it might make Colangelo's legacy that much more enduring if the Suns couldn't survive here without him...

and I also wonder if JC looks at the situation that in order to save the city, he has to burn it down and build from scratch. I understand Seattle hasn't gotten an expansion team in forever, but if JC DOES have the power to keep a team in Phoenix, doesn't that imply that he would at least have some power in bringing a team back to Phoenix?

NBA has reportedly agreed that they will not look at relocation till at least 2025 at the earliest.

Sure, that's possible. But is it something he would do? Why do that if you can just keep the team in Phoenix?

They can postpone and delay it all they want, but there’s no way the city will nor should they approve this proposal.

I always ask myself when evaluating difficult problems, is there a tiger at the back door?

Maybe not but there is tiger running around in the back yard.

I dont think Sarver wants to move deep down. I mean the weather is great here during basketball season and the Suns have a rich tradition here meaning they have a long history. Would he move based on money alone? If it was all about money he could sell the team now and triple or quadruple his money.

I was never concerned any time someone started worrying that Sarver was just looking for a chance to move the team to San Diego. The guy wants to win but more importantly, he wants to make money. Moving from Phoenix to San Diego is a big step down IMO but Seattle or Las Vegas? Those make sense financially if they don't upgrade the current facilities.
