According to Kiper he played TE and DE at the prep level. My bad if I insinuated that he played TE at the pro level.

2. Mike Gandy, Notre Dame -- Late-developing standout, really coming into his own over the last two seasons in South Bend. Remember, at the prep level in Texas, he operated at TE and DE. When you combine his solid senior year with his impressive showing at the Senior Bowl practices, it shouldn't surprise anyone if Gandy ends up in the second round of the draft like I'm expecting. Drafted by Chicago, third round (68th)

Isn't it odd to be discussing player logjams at OL and DL. Who do we cut? We are talking about DL B Berry, K Clancy and OL E Brown and R Wells? We used to talk about not having enough players. Now, we are talking about having too many. Thats a positive.

AJ Schable played both DE and FB

"he played FB last year. He hasn't played d-line since 2005 at South Dakota. Denny converted him, and Whis hasn't put him back, so it's pretty likely, especially with the depth at both positions that he wont make it anywhere"

He played both FB and DE last year. He wore number 96 the first 5 games. He wore number 44 the remainder of the year. The irony is that his only defensive stat, 1 QH, occurred in game 6, the first time he wore number 44.

He ran a 4.9 40 last year at 281#. I'll lay odds with 1 yr of pro training under his belt, he's probably faster and stronger. I would not count him out at FB, DE, or LB yet.

Once the hitting starts, en fuego, Wells will return to tackle, as Grimm will see that he does not get a strong enough push at the point of attack at guard. This is why I see Gandy sliding over to LG...and I don't rule out Milford Brown either, especially if he picks up where he left off last year.

You are correct Mitch, starting LT, not backup RT.

Roster Prediction

Mitch, at flanker you show (4) but only list three names. Is (4) a typo? And while I disagree with some of your selections (Castille, Bienemann, Spurlock, and Hunter), I do so with the thought that you might be 100% correct. My guesses are Vercher (FB), Waiver Wire (TE), Breaston (WR), and Waiver Wire (CB). Thanks for a great post.

Ross at LT scares the **** out of me. He is an overpaid backup player. I hope he proves me wrong and turns around 180 degrees from the previous years.

I know Milton Brown is not the type of guard for Whiz's system....but I can't see Ross and Gandy both on the left side.....would rather see some combo of Gandy and M.Brown.

Doc...once the hitting starts, Milford Brown's stock will rise. He gets a push in the running game that some of the other guard candidates on the roster don't.
