Yeah, but I think that I'd put the odds at beating either St. Louis or New Orleans at about 50/50. It'll be three teams that don't play defense in the technical sense of the word. Anyone can win a shootout.

In the predictions thread I have the Cards beating NO. But that is still not an easy call.

If the Cards can grind out a heat exhaustion victory vs NE then things should be OK going into the bye. The NE game sticks out as a possible unexpected victory.

Ummm..they are the Superbowl Champs or did you forget? However, now that I think about it, NE struggles early in the year the last couple of years before putting it all together. I will revise my stance.

Orignally I had a Loss something like NE 24 AZ 10

Now I think it might be closer NE 17 AZ 9

The ol' "heat exhaustion victory" is such a heap of crap. Bellicheck has his teams prepared to play, in every sense of the word. There's no way that team wears down like Green Bay did. You just might see all the players on the 45-man roster take the field.

Wouldn't that be a penalty

Make's me think of Mac last year twice accepting mediocre field position instead of forcing the other team to re-kick deep in their zone after a penatly on the punt. Shudder.

I hope to see NE on the sidelines with all those cool air tubes tucked into their jerseys. GB looked like a herd of Elephants last year.

LV has a point that's hard to dispute: Bill Belicheck v. Josh McCown. Thanks for playing.

Just remember, on September 12 last year, it was hot for Seattle and they kicked our ass 38-0.

Jim, we lost that game before we even walked out onto the field. By the time we got to the point in the game where the heat would start to bother the Seahawks, we were so far behind, it didn't matter.

Really! what number does Billy boy wear?

Look at the bright side. When it comes to playoff seedings ;) we will get the edge because of strength of schedule. :D

Opening against the rams is good for Arizona. First of all, during his tenure Martz has done a less than stellar job preparing the rams for playing in September. Secondly, the rams will be breaking in a new defense with Marmie and although the reports out of st. louis are that his schemes won't be too different than Lovie Smith's there are bound to be some problems.

I really don't know what to expect from the rams this season, but recent history has shown that getting them in September ain't all that bad and starting the Green era with a road-win in the place where the rams are supposedly hard to beat could be the start of a great year for you guys.

The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the variety of schemes we'll be facing in our first 3 games.

- We go up against the Rams' race-horse offense and the possibility of running against them.

- Then our offense has to deal with Belicheck.

- Then in Week #3, it's "contain Vick" time.

It would have been nicer if we could establish some consistency in our offensive and defensive approach early in the season.

Then again, there are no likely snow games (last outdoor game is vs. Carolina, I believe in mid-Nov., with Miami the one before that)

I might be the minority here but I like this schedule a lot. First off you get the Rams, Pats, and Falcons which all appear to to be losses "on paper" but realistically the best time time to get the "good" teams is right out of the gate as it usually takes them a few weeks to get into sync. Nobody knows what to expect from the Rams this year and historically they haven't been a strong September team, the Pats usually don't put up a lot of points in road games and if it is close at half we can win that one with assistance from the 130 degree heat- haha....and beating the Falcons is possible as there whole game revolves around Michael Vick.
All "3" of these games are an uphill battle but all the Cards need is to come out 1-2 and they will be in good shape. If the Cardinals can enter Decmeber smelling .500 they will be in playoff hunt down the stretch.

Go Cards/ America!

That's how I look at it. The Rams and Pats both started slow last year. I'd rather be going into St Louis early rather than later when their wideouts have established a good rythm with Bulger.

Patriots will be a problem though. First, they get three extra days to prepare for us since they start their season on a Thursday, and if they win that game, they will be looking at us to continue that win streak.

From an Eastern Perspective

As an Easterner, I have a few additional slants on the Cardinal schedule.

1. I was hoping for more early-season late afternoon (4:15pm ET) games, so they wouldn't cut into beach time. Opening game is 1pm with StL. Dang! Two Sundays later, we catch another 1pm'er (this time vs. Atlanta). Dang again!

2. I was hoping to dodge conflicts with my 50th Year HS reunion and my son's wedding. Both the Seattle and SF eary-season games are late ones (4:15pm) so they work out pretty well.

3. We'll get plenty of ink in the NY press surrounding the Nov. 14 and 28 games vs. Jets and Giants.

4. Six of our 16 games are 1pm'ers (which means fewer dinnertime conflicts at home)

5. I still hate Dallas and feel the league really overdid it - putting them on in prime time 5 (I repeat 5!) times. (What the hell did they win last season?)
