From some of the comments I've read associated with this on other sites or stories, I think its funny how Fitz would have looked so good in a Pats, Vikes or 9ers uniform.. but now that he's signed up again with the Cardinals he's just a washed up, over the hill receiver. Way to go Fitz and Cards!

Wow...Fitz keeps winning in contract neogtiations with the Cardinals. $22 mil guaranteed for two years is a huge win for a guy his age who was never going to see the end of that deal. A guy who has made every deal he signs leverage him into huge amounts of guaranteed money over a long career. Both sides got what they wanted today, and we will revisit this in two years where I'm sure Fitz will put the Cards over the barrell again.

Fitz has earned every penny and I would hardly characterize his deals as "placing the team over a barrel"... And certainly, 2 years from now when he is 34 years old, that characterization becomes all the more ridiculous...

Lastly, in terms of his $22 million guarantee, do you not believe he could've gotten more money elsewhere? I have no doubt that some other team(s) would've stepped up and given Fitz something like a 3/4 year deal with $30 million guaranteed.

I wanted Fitz to be part of championship teams. I was hoping for a trade with NE. Championships have not happened with Big Red so no reason to believe it will happen. He made the deal so he knows what is important too him but I cant believe winning championships is a primary goal. Considering his reduced role with Arians I am shocked he stayed.

Awesome!

The NFL is a business and those saying Fitz has the team "over a barrell" should remember that all Fitzgerald did was produce at a high level, be a great leader, and a face if the franchise that other teams envy. Rod Graves us the schmuck that provided the barrell with his horrible contract, Fitzgerald is doing no more than getting what was agreed upon, and time and time again through thick and thin has been willing to negotiate and work with the team. Not sure how this can be complained about. As a fan the team gets A LOT of cap space to work with, so who cares that Fitz gets his if it does not hurt the team?

Fitzgerald is going to go to the Hall of Fame and his hands will be touted as arguably, the best ever. Its great for a franchise who in there long history does have much to show for it.

It is a lot of money for the reduced role he is being asked to perform.

I am patient with stupidity but not with those who are proud of it.

If the Cardinals ever win the Super Bowl you will be bitching about how the Lombardi isn't shiney enough. You are miserable when good things happen.

Man... I NEVER say this to people... But, good god man... If you think the team is THAT hopeless, ESPECIALLY after back to back year of ten plus win seasons, a playoff birth and with the Coach Of The Year, why waste your time caring about them or posting here?

This was a fair deal considering all of the variables. Fitz gets security and AZ gets significant cap relief and the face of the franchise back. No one was "put over the barrel." Sounds more like Keim undoing (again) some of Graves's blunders.

Bull crap.

The team had the best record in the NFL through 10 games last season with significant injuries. What's to say a championship can't be won in AZ? Not like we're the Browns or Jaguars.

#11 stays for 11 mill per year. His name will be in the rafters within the next 11 years. Book it.

Now I get to wear my #11 jersey forever. Now I just wish Q would have never left.

Is it true that by signing him his cap hit is only $3 mil more than it would have been had we cut him? If that's the case, then this is a huge victory. And you couldn't have asked for better timing.
