Schefter on Sportscenter this morning

Did anyone see his segment on Leinart this morning (I probably should have put this in the "Leinart is Toast" thread)? He said something along the lines of -

"There's rumblings coming out of the AZ locker room that Leinart is not the players favorite to be the starting QB. Derrick Anderson has outplayed Leinart this camp and don't be surprised if he's named the starter heading into AZ's first game at St. Louis."

WHAT? I usually respect what Schefter reports but this is crazy talk. Last I checked, Anderson has not outplayed Leinart this camp and reporting that we "shouldn't be surprised" if Leinart doesn't win the job is irresponsible. If anything, DA has a better chance of being cut than being the starter week 1 (I'm saying that not knowing his contract details).

This type of statement is par for the course since he joined ESPN. Not sure why you're surprised he said it. ESPN tends to focus on extremes and create controversy because they think it's entertaining.

The thing I love most about that video is that espn chick interviewing doesnt know how to react to Somers calling Schefter a liar.. She was so eager to jump on the Leinart sucks wagon.. Then pow.. haha.. Shes stuck looking stupid wondering if she should defend Schefter.. haha.. love it..

Gee made mention that there were no Anderson fans...so I adopted the guy.

I'm hoping that, if I continue to offer him internet-backup, that he'll come by for Thanksgiving or something.

How much stock do you guys put into the fact Leinart will be playing without Fitz & Doucet? It might be hard to have success & evaluate him with 2 of the top 3 WR's out, let alone the suspect protection from the Oline.

It will be important to see how he deals with adversity. Is he going to try and force the ball to WR who is unopen? Will he take ownership of the Offense? Will he call out his young WRs when they run the wrong routes yet work with them to get them on the same page?

I think that is the biggest thing I want to see. When will Lienart take ownership of the offense? I want to see him confident back there.
