Schilling to be Subponead Wendsday

ESPN is reporting that several Big League Players won't have a choice as to wether they will testify in front of the House on March 17th. The player who will be subponead include, Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, Raffy Palmerio, Frank Thomas, Schilling, Sammy Sosa and Jason Giambi.

Yeah, I find it really interesting that of all people, they haven't called BaBo yet.

Some guy on ESPN Radio today said that IF the Feds feel they have a good case to nail Barry, they would basically instruct the congressional committee to not call him, because it could compromise prosecuting their case. He concluded, "Bonds should be more concerned that he wasn't called to appear, than if he had been."

I can't stand Ray Ratto as a writer, but his description of Barry Bonds as the million pound elephant in the room is dead on.

The absence of Barry just sort of smacks you right in the face.

Dan Patrick had McCain on today, who said, "Not to insult or belittle my colleagues on the congressional side, but - this is nonsense. It's pointless." He wouldn't be lured into calling it grandstanding, but didn't disagree when DP characterized it as a 3-ring circus. Just repeated that he'd been approached about doing it on the Senate side and rejected the idea as being completely unnecessary.

I don't have a problem in the abstract with a congressional investigative committee.

I think there are a lot of questions to be asked about steroids, particularly use among teenagers. I think probably is a lot of misinformation around, too - I analogize it to adults warning us not to smoke marijuana or we would become addicted to heroin.

So as long as they look at how dangerous steroids are, what the incentives are, who is profiting, do we need a national policy, how prevalent is the use, it serves a real purpose.

I don't care for it to be witchhunt or name names kinda thing.

And then again, McCain, being the egomaniac that he is, might just be jealous that he was UNABLE to get things going on the Senate side..... Not saying that's so...... just a thought.....
